  • Yesterday was a good day! We had the pleasure of spending time in the company of Nicholas Callaway, learning more about the upcoming release of The Unconquerable Game: My Life in Golf and Business by Ely Callaway. The book follows Ely Callaway's entrepreneurial journey through the textile and wine industry and on to the creation of Callaway Golf. Talking with Nicholas, it was clear that this project had been a real labour of love. He worked through thousands of documents, handwritten notes, drafts, and audio recordings his father had made during his life. The book and audiobook will be of interest to golf enthusiasts and people who have an interest and draw inspiration for their own entrepreneurship journeys. We also learned more about the amazing work that went into creating the first posthumous narration using AI, recreating Ely's voice for the upcoming release of the audiobook version of The Unconquerable Game. Creating Ely's voice ultimately led to a very moving experience for Nicholas and the rest of the Callaway family as they heard Ely's voice again for the first time in over 20 years since his passing. Nicholas has also confirmed that he will begin a tour promoting the book and audiobook on March 25th, the day they are released. We'll post details of the dates and venues of Nicholas' tour if you are interested in attending. Extracts from our interview will be available in the GBR newsletter and YouTube channel in the coming weeks. We are truly grateful to Nicholas for taking time out of his busy schedule to talk with us. #ElyCallaway #CallawayGolf #Entrepreneurship #GolfIndustry #GolfBizzReview

  • How Ely Callaway Changed Golf Forever. Few individuals have reshaped the game of golf like Ely Callaway. A visionary entrepreneur, Callaway wasn’t just an innovator—he was a game-changer. His mission was simple: make golf more enjoyable and accessible for everyone, not just professionals. After acquiring Hickory Stick USA in 1982 and renaming it Callaway Golf, he revolutionized the industry with breakthrough technology. The Big Bertha driver (1991) redefined club design, introducing the first oversized, stainless steel driver with perimeter weighting—giving amateur golfers more forgiveness and distance with every swing. It was a turning point in golf equipment history. But Callaway didn’t stop there. From the Great Big Bertha (1995) to the Odyssey 2-Ball Putter (2001), his relentless pursuit of innovation made Callaway Golf the world’s No. 1 club brand. His philosophy? Play better, enjoy more. We are indebted for the time and access Nicholas Callaway has provided us ahead of the launch on 25th March of The Unconquerable Game: My Life in Golf & Business. The book is a collection of Ely Callaway's notes and insights gathered throughout his life and have been lovingly curated by Nicholas with the help of co-editor, Andrew Moorhead. The Unconquerable Game – My Life in Golf & Business By Ely Callaway is available to pre-order ahead of its release on 25th March. #ElyCallaway #Innovation #TheUnconquerableGame #GolfBizzReview #CallawayGolf

  • This year's PGA Show was the biggest since 2009. The scale and number of exhibitors at the show this year highlight the healthy state of the golf industry. We were particularly happy to see Pinned Golf receiving top honors, claiming the prestigious Product of the Year award, for their new product The Caddie. We had a chance to catch up with two of Pinned Golf's founders, John Rowell and Alec Lorenzo after their success at the PGA Show and ask them about The Caddie. The Caddie is the first portable GPS Tablet device and has been created as a result of golfers relying on the GPS devices found in golf carts compared to range finders. You can watch our interview with John and Alec below, where they talk us through some of the features of The Caddie before its official release in May. We also carry the interview in this week's edition of Golf Bizz Review. Congrats again to John Rowell, Alec Lorenzo, and Pinned Golf's third founder, Matt Buckley on winning Product of the Year and we're sure you'll have a huge 2025! #PinnedGolf #PGAShow #ProductOfTheYear #GolfBizzReview #GolfIndustry https://lnkd.in/gWEaUZrX

Is there more light appearing at the end of the tunnel? The PGA of America's new CEO, Derek Sprague, has spoken of his desire to create unity in the professional game. Speaking at the PGA Trade Show, Sprague made it clear he would be happy to get everybody around the table to sort the future of professional golf out. We are currently experiencing a new dynamic in the leading authorities of professional golf, with fresh appointments at the most senior levels. Sprague was confirmed as the new CEO of the PGA of America in December, Mark Darbon took over from Martin Slumbers at the R&A last summer, Scott O'Neill is the newly announced CEO of LIV Golf, and Guy Kinnings took over the reins of the DP World Tour last year. So a new chapter begins. Donald Trump is officially the 47th President of the United States of America. We know from various news reports that the President hasn't wasted any time and has signed off dozens of executive orders within the first hours of his presidency. We also know that Trump has been talking tough on trade and the likelihood of some serious tariffs coming down the line, leading to a new round of trade wars erupting. Are we likely to see any impact of increased tariffs in the golf industry? Most clubs and balls are produced outside of the US. In time, are we likely to see an impact on the price we pay for golf equipment? Will other areas of the golf industry be affected as well? Do you see any changes likely to take place? If you work in the golf industry, are there any concerns or is the mood more positive? Share your comments below. You can also catch up on all the latest news from within the golf industry in the latest edition of the GBR newsletter. #golfindustry #GolfBizzReview https://lnkd.in/e8u_MsCn
