Justin Wells is running the 129th Boston Marathon?, presented by Bank of America for his father, Allan, and other close friends and family who have passed away much too young from unexpected health issues. "As we all know, life can change in the blink of an eye. After graduating college, I thought life was perfect. Then, in a year's time, I lost both of my grandparents - one to cancer and the other to heart disease. My other grandfather was also diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Not soon after, my best friend was diagnosed with cancer. The major event that ultimately changed my life forever is the unexpected loss of my father at age 60 to a heart attack." "Some will take a life tragedy and struggle, but I was able to take these hardships and turn them into the opportunities that I am given today - including running the Boston Marathon as a member of Team GFC ?? "I don't know if my father will still be here on April 21st, but seeing his smile when we got into the Boston Marathon as a part of Team GFC, I know he'll be running alongside me in spirit." ?? Taking on endurance races has helped both Chaz and his father navigate the impact of cancer. "Over the past two years, the visits and conversations with my father surrounded my endurance races - which I started because he challenged me. The races were a way to escape what our reality was. "It's always been a "bucket list" item for me to run the Boston Marathon. My family and I watch the race from the Start Line in Hopkinton every year and I'm always inspired by the runners' determination, excitement, and passion." "More importantly, I am proud to run for such a great cause! We have ALL been impacted by cancer in some way. For me, my grandfather, "Grampa Jim" aka "Fergie", was a major part of my life growing up. He was a constant fixture on the sidelines at sporting events, drove me to guitar lessons, and was the best Yankee Swap officiant you could ask for every Christmas Eve!
