This day serves as a global call to action:?? ?? Raise awareness about violence against women and girls.?? ?? Prevent and eliminate gender-based violence worldwide.?? ?? Advocate for policies and resources to end this pervasive human rights violation.? Despite progress, violence against women and girls remains alarmingly prevalent. Globally, 1 in 3 women—an estimated 736 million—experience physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime.? Weak law enforcement, discriminatory norms, and violence in public spaces, workplaces, and online further hinder progress. Together, we must work to create a world where women and girls can live free from violence and fulfill their rights.? A promising week of deep engagement?and capacity building with Nigeria, Uganda, DRC and Rwanda implementing partners.? Followed by strategic conversations with Ministry of Youth and Arts, National Youth Council, Rwanda Ministry of Education and Rwanda Education Board as we plan to effectively reach youth within school and out of school with the gold Model, as they transition from being negative recipients of negative norms to becoming proactive agents of social change. The process of collaboration through consultation and deep conversation between Rwanda governent ministries and gold-youth, models how all youth ecosystem actors can together achieve collective impact. Our?gold-youth?system change vision 2044 is clear: every young African to be empowered to lead the continent’s transformation and make a mark on the global stage. Together, we continue to unlock potential, inspire hope, and drive real change. I am still feeling energised by the incredible spirit at the YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2024! From 8-10 November, 3 days of demonstrating Africa’s greatest resource -it’s YOUTH, the Summit could not have been better postured for next steps than in the call to action by Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente who said,? “Wherever you are, in your communities, businesses, education circles, embrace the role of agent of change, as you are called upon to address the real challenges of our continent.” Brimming with potential from South Africa to Madagascar to Nigeria to Tunisia, it is clear that youth across the continent are full of passion and innovative energy coupled with digitalisation prowess, and the sober wisdom of generations gone ahead of them, will create and sustain solutions that Africa not only “ deserves” but the global world needs!
