Thank you to everyone who joined our field day with Practical Farmers of Iowa and Harrison County Conservation Board at Willow Lake Nature Center today! Participants learned about prairie restoration, harvested native seeds, and cleaned some of the seed. Thanks also to the event sponsors, Center for Rural Affairs, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Iowa Farmers Union, and Women, Food and Agriculture Network.

The 2024 LoHi Trek is this week in Mills & Fremont counties! The Trek is a four-day, three-night group hiking/walking trip through western Iowa’s Loess Hills. Participants will be camping on a combination of public and private land with pre-arranged permission. Participants will be given strict guidelines regarding good trail etiquette, including respecting private property boundaries and leaving no trace behind of any litter. This year’s Trek is the fourth annual event. Previous Treks have traversed through parts of Plymouth, Woodbury, Monona, and Harrison counties. This will be the first route in the southern Loess Hills, and was planned to coincide with peak fall colors. Including staff and volunteers, approximately 45 people will be participating. In addition to the hiking and camping, several educational programs about conservation, the Loess Hills, and local history will be included. The Trek is supporting many local businesses and partnering with several local organizations and volunteers. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dG_Eb_Mw
