The origin of the word Charrette?is French?for 'cart’ or 'chariot’. Its use appeared in the 19th century at the ?? Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where it was common at the end of a term for students to work right up until a deadline, at that point a charrette would be wheeled among them to collect their work for review.?The intense effort to apply the finishing touches to their work became known as working en charrette, or "in the cart." Emile Zola depicted such a scene of feverish activity, a?nuit de charrette?'charrette night'. Charrettes play a ? crucial role in the early stages of iterative design for many creative projects. Before the pandemic, they were exclusively held in person. However, with new technologies and tools now readily available, the charrette process has evolved. Online platforms have become increasingly popular for remote teams seeking to boost creativity, collaboration, and productivity. With access to ?? global resources and expanding talent pools, many companies find it too costly to transport team members for every brainstorming session. As a result, the era of in-person brainstorming has largely passed, giving way to online whiteboards. These tools allow teams to freely ideate, brainstorm, workshop, and collaborate from anywhere, at any time. Fostering a culture of visual collaboration with your team may seem like a ?? formidable task but I’ve found a few techniques to help introduce and enhance remote collaboration ??: ?? ? Integrate visual boards into your personal workflow—the more you use these tools, the more proficient you’ll become. ?? Introduce your team to the concept of visual thinking and collaboration during a regular meeting or collaboration session. This will demonstrate how it can significantly improve team productivity. ?? Schedule real-time visual collaboration sessions with your team and encourage active participation. ?? ??Customize visual collaboration tools to fit your team’s workflows by identifying processes that can be standardized using templates. What visualization tools do you use and how do you introduce your team to visual collaboration?

How do you overcome Analysis Paralysis?
Founder of Golden Ticket Creative | Former Walt Disney Imagineer | Former Universal Creative UDXer | Current #Designprenuer
In themed entertainment design, we are challenged by the complexities required to create immersive, innovative, one-of-a-kind worlds – a process that can be overwhelming and difficult to many. Even after considering the circumstances and options, some designers still struggle to make a clear decision, often resulting in no action being taken in the assigned timeframe. Enter in the designer’s saboteur: Analysis Paralysis. This cunning phenomenon is fueled when the combination of emotions, such as fear and uncertainty, are brewing in the depths of our emotional cauldron. This amalgamation of emotional triggers often lead to indecision, increased anxiety and ultimately a roadblock to success. If you’re thinking you’ve fallen victim to this composer of chaos, you are not alone. Our industry challenges creative decision-making, especially when significant efforts are required. Throughout my tenure in creative development for theme parks and other immersive environments, I break free from the chaos by trying to understand my paralysis, reminding myself that I have a team of highly specialized individuals surrounding me, and that we all share the burden. There are many techniques to overcome Analysis Paralysis, but some of the techniques that help me are: 1.?????Understand the emotion: Am I afraid that I will make the wrong decision? Am I overwhelmed? Am I worried how this decision will impact my career and influence how my coworkers perceive me? 2.?????Set clear expectations. At the forefront of every project, establish clear expectations, yes, with a whole lot of questions. 3.?????Set clear deadlines. Creating firm deadlines creates a sense of urgency and focus. If there is no schedule yet, create one, you must start somewhere. 4.?????Establish Priorities and Identify Risk. We all know how fast our industry moves, not every issue can be resolved in the time desired. Reviewing needs, and identifying priorities, will help distinguish between critical and trivial information. 5.?????Start checking boxes. This is a BIG one and probably the most difficult because now you have to actually make a decision, but now you have gathered information to help you make that decision. Once you start checking boxes, it is easier to maintain momentum and track progress. What tools and techniques do you use to combat Analysis Paralysis?

We recently had the opportunity to visit the beloved European Theme Park, Efteling, one of the oldest Theme Parks still in existence. This fairy tale theme park is based in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands and reflects attractions based on ancient myths & legends, fairytales and folklore. The park opened in May 31, 1952 and was twice as large as the original Disneyland park, has 180 acres divided into 5 themed lands: Travel Realm, Fairy Realm, Adventure Realm, Other Realm and Fantasy Realm. This park is truly a treasure and we look forward to watching its continued success and growth. www.efteling.com

?? Today we went out to visit a local favorite: Plantscape, Inc. ?? Our founder is a BIG proponent of visiting fabrication vendors to learn all about their products, processes, services and... what they've been up to! Today Kelly went to visit Plantscapes' Bruce Lemke for a tour of the facility and he did not disappoint! The Plantscape facility is buzzing with activity while they get ready to crate and ship bulk faux foliage to Disney. ?? While on the tour, we discussed their design and fabrication process: conceptual ideation, 3D Rhino modeling, structural collaborations and in house fabrication of Faux Trees, Shrubs, Grasses, and other foliage decor. Did you know?? ?? Plantscape uses REAL WOOD branches for efficiency & authenticity, and ties in the rest of the bark texture with layers of mesh, wire, tubing, foam and then Polygem for the finished texture ?? . This product is only suitable for indoor environments but the final result is extremely life-like and a superb addition to any interior environment. For exterior uses, the products are more robust in material and structure. Plantscape is also currently working on foliage elements for an upcoming Universal Attraction - really big swampy trees?? This was a fun surprise for Golden Ticket Creative since our history is intertwined with this special project. ? A BIG THANK YOU to Bruce at Plantscapes, Inc. for the tour!
