Gold Standard has announced a new digital assurance platform alongside an update to its processes to allow broader applications of its standard. This is part of a wider digitalisation strategy and will help project developers deliver verified impact efficiently while maintaining the integrity that Gold Standard-certified projects are known for.? From 05 December 2024, any new review of a project activity will be submitted to Gold Standard via the new online assurance platform, at no extra cost. The platform will facilitate efficient document management and workflows, decision-making, and engagement with validation and verification bodies (VVBs), ensuring that the entire assurance process is transparent, efficient, and easier to navigate.?? Following the launch of a digital SDG Impact Tool, and alongside the ongoing digital Measurement, Reporting and Verification (dMRV) pilot programme, the new online platform will be integrated with other Gold Standard digital systems and marks the next step in Gold Standard’s journey to fully digitalise impact certification.?? Gold Standard works to create a climate secure world where sustainable growth brings life-changing benefits to communities everywhere. Our role as a standard and certification body is to maximise the impact of climate and development activities. We design the strongest processes that amplify the impact of efforts to deliver clean energy and water, responsibly manage land and forests, and transform lives of the world’s poor. We then verify those outcomes, inspiring greater confidence that drives investment to accomplish even more. We were established in 2003 by WWF and other NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UNs CDM also delivered on their dual mandate to foster sustainable development. Now with more than 80 NGO supporters and 1100 projects in over 70 countries, our projects have delivered billions of dollars in climate and development outcomes in local communities all around the world. Our Vision: Climate security and sustainable development for all Our Mission: To maximise the impacts of climate and development interventions by creating robust standards that lead to responsible management of the planet's resources and life-changing benefits to communities around the world. Our Values Pioneering: For over a decade, we've shown how climate finance can achieve its highest potential. We’re pushing this further, creating and integrating innovative programs to deliver impacts at a greater scale. Collaborative: To realize our ambitious vision, we will join forces with strategic partners who share our goals and values. Rigorous: We will build upon our reputation for quality and rigour with more robust measurement of outcomes and deeper impact across the Sustainable Development Goals. Transparent: We were established to bring confidence, trust and accountability to carbon markets. We will continue to take strides to improve transparency in our own processes and the broader market.

Coming towards the end of the second week of COP29, all my thoughts go to the valiant group of negotiators working day and night towards – we hope – a robust Article 6.2 outcome, that provides clarity for climate action, impact and finance. The negotiations may be ongoing, but we were encouraged to be engaged in multiple initiatives and events in the first week that demonstrate the progress being made to make Article 6 implementation a reality. With Global Green Growth Institute, we co-hosted an event to mark the launch of GGGI’s Carbon Transaction Facility and to share information on Gold Standard’s policy crediting requirements, enabling carbon finance to go beyond projects and support policy-driven impact. In collaboration with Verra and National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore, Gold Standard launched interim recommendations on the development of an Article 6.2 Crediting Protocol, to guide governments in their implementation of Article 6 when working through independent standard-setters. It is encouraging to see many of these recommendations reflected in draft Article 6.2 decisions. Meanwhile Margaret Kim, Gold Standard’s CEO, spoke during the launch of a new template Letter of Authorisation, developed by MIGA. Gold Standard has recognised this template under our Article 6 requirements, as a model for use by governments and project developers. This, plus much more, gives hope that while Article 6 implementation will never be straightforward, steps are being made to build the right foundations for trusted and high-quality market-based action. #Article6 #carbonmarkets #carbonfinance
