Earlier this month INTA and INPI Brasil - Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial held a productive dialogue to clarify INTA’s comments on INPI’s draft proposal for registering trademarks based on acquired distinctiveness (secondary meaning). INPI reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the new procedure by year-end, marking a key milestone for trademark protection in Brazil. This collaboration underscores the value of public-private engagement in shaping effective IP policies, with INPI Brasil as a benchmark for cooperation in the region.
