Here's a quick guide to help you navigate the conversation with confidence. Start by thanking them for their time. They have an extremely busy schedule and took time out of their day to help you. Make sure you highlight this! Ask About Their Experience: "What’s been the most rewarding part of your career so far?" "How did you transition from [their previous job or role] to your current position?". Don’t ask about what their current role is, you should already know this and should’ve done your research beforehand. Focus on Growth Opportunities: "What skills or experiences do you think are most important for someone looking to break into sales (or your industry)?" Mention Your Goals (Without Asking for a Job): "I’m really passionate about [specific aspect of the job or industry]. I’d love to learn more about how I can prepare myself for a career like yours." End with Gratitude and Action: "Thank you so much for your insights! Is there anyone else you think I should connect with as I explore this field?"
