We did it again. Friday at 4pm Like every Friday at 4pm at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery This time we welcomed AMPHERR AG and their top management to Charlotte, the place to be. Throwback Thursday? Valve technology in the past and today?? ? On this #throwbackThursday we look back into the past of valve technology. As a family business, GOETZE KG has been involved in the valve industry for more than 70 years and is characterized by its many years of experience and technical know-how. In recent years, technical innovations have increasingly shaped and improved valve manufacturing.? ? The Goetze 851 series is the prototype of this technical development. Originally developed as a heating safety valve, the safety valve has been approved in the Goetze product portfolio and has been continuously developed over the years.?? ? While the 851 used to be one cast part, the inlet and outlet housing were later separated so that a flexible inlet or outlet and different connection options can be guaranteed.? ? These different connections as well as seals allow the use in several fields of application, for example in medical technology and industrial boiler systems as well as district heating systems and solar systems in building and industrial technology. Even applications with non-neutral, flammable, toxic and viscous media are permitted.? ? A true all-around valve for numerous applications that will remain part of the Goetze product portfolio in the future.? The product catalogues, published in a different color every year, are an important part of the GOETZE past.??? ??? Some of the copies found date back to the 1950s and let us reminisce.???? ??? But not all old products belong to the past. The 851 series safety valve is an "all-time favorite" at GOETZE and is the basis for many further valve developments. Good to KNOW: Which seals are suitable for?hydrogen applications??? In addition to pressure and temperature, the permeation and diffusion of hydrogen through the seal material plays a decisive role.? Another important aspect becomes apparent in elastomer seals at higher pressures (>30 bar) and a rapidly occurring pressure relief. Due to its very small molecular size, the H2 gas accumulates in the tiny cavities of the seal. In case of a sudden pressure release in the system to be sealed, the H2 gas also relaxes in the cavities inside the seal and the gas cannot escape as quickly.? The result -> explosive decompression? The seal bursts or is even destroyed??? The effect of the seal is lost?? A sudden pressure release is unavoidable in many cases. Therefore, the seals must be specially tested for this event.??? Recognizable by one of the following characteristics:?? NORSOK Standard M-710 tested??? AED = Anti-Explosive Decompression??? RGD = Rapid Gas Decompression?? ???
