After losing everything to the devastating floods of Hurricane Helene, now the Blair Family is starting a new chapter in their brand-new, fully furnished home! This heartwarming moment marks only one of 25 homes currently being provided in Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Meet Tamara. During recent flash flooding in Southwest Virginia, she and her neighbors hurried across the highway to the Dollar General store to wait out the devastating storm. After the waters – which had been over a foot deep – receded, Tamara and her family had no idea where to turn. Their furniture was water-logged, cabinets were ruined, and their home was now dangerous to walk into as the flood left the flooring with numerous holes. With her son enrolled in online college courses, he is now having to stay with a friend while his family works to recover. Tamara shared how difficult this storm has been and the mental toll it has taken on her family. Upon meeting Tamara, God's Pit Crew volunteers quickly got to work removing all of the flood-ravaged items from their home, along with three feet of paneling from every wall and all insulation underneath the home – and then spraying for mold remediation. The help provided by our volunteer crews doesn't come only in the form of physical labor but in the prayers and love they pour into people like Tamara.
