What an incredible story! We are continuously in awe of the work the Red Cross is doing.
Our reunification team has received over 11,500 inquiries from families searching for missing loved ones after Hurricanes Milton and Helene. This team of Red Crossers has been working nonstop to reconnect those who lost touch after the storms. One example of this incredible work is the reunion of Mike Brannon and his son. Mike had evacuated to a Red Cross shelter after Helene’s severe flooding and was waiting for medication to treat his medical conditions. When his son saw Mike’s story on our social media accounts, he immediately reached out to the Red Cross. Thanks to the swift coordination between our reunification team and the shelter manager, Mike and his son were able to speak over the phone and reconnect. This heartwarming moment highlights the power of connection during disasters. Everyone has a unique story and journey to recovery like Mike, but they don’t have to face it alone. Our teams offer support, essential resources, and a compassionate presence to help those recovering from unimaginable circumstances after a crisis. We’re so grateful that Mike and his son were able to reconnect! ??
