Today, during #LungCancerAwarenessMonth, YouTube published a blog authored by its former CEO, Susan Wojcicki, a trailblazer and visionary. Susan’s passing is a profound reminder that lung cancer can impact anyone, even those with no known risk factors. Her words help raise the national consciousness of lung cancer’s impact, especially on women who are uniquely and devastatingly impacted by the disease. We will collectively work to fulfill Susan’s vision to ensure that more people understand lung cancer’s impact and advocate for research to improve outcomes for women. We must come together as one voice for passage of the Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act. Join us: https://lnkd.in/ejTXTR5e

While the genetic risk for cancers such as breast, ovarian, colon, and prostate cancers has been studied extensively, relatively little is known about any genetic risk for developing lung cancer. This is true for cases related to tobacco exposure, and especially for those that are not. In the INHERIT Study, we will study patients and families with either known germline mutations or elevated rates of lung cancer and try to understand the basis for any inherited or genetic risk. Our goals are to learn more about the genetic risk for lung cancer, how to better predict lung cancer risk in the context of family history or certain germline mutations, and ways to employ potential lung cancer screening in these populations. To join our research study or to see how you can collaborate with our study team for this important research, please visit the study website at inheritstudy.org

Diagnosed in 2022, she was shocked to learn that #LungCancer can affect anyone—if you have lungs, you can get lung cancer. Discovering she had the #EGFR mutation brought hope through #TargetedTherapy, which eliminated all her metastases. Today, Presley feels empowered by advancements in #PrecisionMedicine and the support of #GO2forLungCancer. Learn more about our studies: https://go2.org/research/
