When it comes to using software to remotely monitor and manage connected products, solution providers and enterprise service centers are often faced with the question of "build vs. buy?". I sat down with?Robert Chiti to hear how they worked through this dilemma at his company?OpenTech Alliance. It wasn't an obvious decision ... at first. You see, OpenTech Alliance builds connected products for self-storage facilities — products like: - access control systems - self-service kiosks - camera and security systems - electronic locks - (and a lot more) It's a wide range of connected products that OpenTech provides to help self-storage operators offload time-consuming tasks to run their businesses more cost-effectively - and make self-storage operations smarter. OpenTech recognized the need to offer their customer's ongoing monitoring and management services to help ensure that their deployed products provided the ongoing value to their customers. But that begged a question: Do they build their own monitoring solution? In the video below, Robert walks through how they thought about this question - and how they came to realize that Canopy best positioned for their current and future remote device management needs. Robert shared how people build "homegrown systems" but don't judge those systems the same as they would an external solution they'd buy. "They give a lot more leniency to their own internal systems."
