Yesterday, GM Defense (GMD) proudly hosted the first Salute to Service Celebration—an event dedicated to honoring the dedication and sacrifices of our veteran community. Held at the General Motors?(GM) iconic Design Dome, a venue rich in history and innovation, the event provided a unique opportunity to connect with veterans, the US Army community, and our workforce, celebrating our shared commitment to supporting our nation’s defense. We were privileged to hear from two exceptional keynote speakers: Congressional Medal of Honor Society recipient, Sgt. Maj. Earl Plumlee (Ret.), and motivational speaker, James Eltroy Dixon. They shared powerful insights and personal stories of service, resilience, and dedication to our nation, leaving a profound impact on all in attendance. Their words underscored the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to a purpose larger than oneself. Special thanks to our teammates across GM, GMD, and Hendrick Motorsports, whose collaboration and dedication brought this celebration to life. It’s a true testament to what we can accomplish together when we honor one shared mission. On the latest episode of the Canadian Army | Armée canadienne Podcast, host Captain Adam Orton speaks with Major Samir Khelil, Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) Project Director, to discuss how the Canadian Light Forces are utilizing LTVs to fill critical capability gaps and bring rapid ground mobility to the tactical environment. ? “If you’re able to move quickly, you’re not even there when they confirm or positive ID you,” Major Samir Khelil. GM Defense secured a contract with the Canadian Armed Forces to deliver 90 light tactical vehicles, with an option for an additional 18 units. Based on the ZR2 off-road variant of the Chevrolet Colorado, the LTVs feature 90 percent commercial-off-the-shelf parts and Chevy Performance parts for enhanced off-road capabilities. ? The vehicles significantly enhance quality, performance, and safety, elements which support our nation's senior diplomats and their supporting teams to execute their important mission for diplomacy and national security. ?
