The energy was electric as we welcomed our current residents for an exclusive preview of FirView, our Assisted Living Expansion Project, opening late spring at Emerald Heights! This highly anticipated addition will feature 54 beautifully designed one-bedroom apartments, complete with modern finishes and thoughtful details to enhance comfort, well-being, and quality of life for our residents. Exciting news! The University of Washington Construction Management Sustainability Team took second place at the Associated Schools of Construction Regional Competition, held Feb. 5-8! Every year, UW sends several teams of Construction Management students to Reno, Nevada, to compete in this prestigious event. GLY's Jane K., Nick Cowan, Kevin Eng, and Laura Soma were honored to coach and mentor the team over the last year, helping them prepare for the big event. We couldn’t be prouder of these talented students and can’t wait to see what they achieve next in the industry. ASC competitions hold a special place in our hearts, with a long tradition of employee participation (as former students) and mentoring teams year after year. Rehabilitation efforts are underway at YMCA of Greater Seattle's Camp Kilworth, a 25-acre outdoor site in Federal way. We look forward to its reopening! GLY Sustainability Manager Laura Soma recently visited the site to check out the team's progress and learn more about the land’s environmental and historical significance.
I had the pleasure of touring YMCA’s Camp Kilworth earlier this week to learn more about its history and check in on GLY Construction's renovation work that will extend the life of the facilities and preserve its rich history. This incredible spot along Puget Sound’s shoreline in Federal Way has been changing lives since its days as a Boy Scouts camp in the 1930s. Preserving its environment is also crucial, as nutrients from the wooded hillside flow into the Sound and help sustain the local salmon. ? Want to help with the preservation efforts?
