    "We must use what we have to invent what we desire." - Adrienne Rich Throughout history, women have turned traditional "domestic" skills into tools of revolution. From suffragettes stitching messages of equality into their banners to modern makers crafting symbols of resistance, creativity has always been our pathway to change. This legacy of creative resistance flows through my own entrepreneurial journey. My grandmother's generous spirit of crafting for others, my mother's determination to build three successful creative businesses including a rural craft store, and now my mission with GlueStick - each generation finding new ways to weave creativity into community impact. Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, I'm proud that GlueStick continues this tradition of creative empowerment. We're teaching the next generation that their creativity matters, that their hands can craft change, and that even the smallest acts of making can ripple out to transform communities.     Seventeen years ago I asked the green-haired guy who sat in front of me in CSCI 4011 - Formal Languages and Automata Theory if I could look at his hat. It used a knitting technique I’d never seen before and I wanted to figure out how to do something similar in my next project. I never did knit that hat, but we did knit a friendship that grew into the beautiful family Carl Allen and I have today. It’s a relationship that only started because my mom taught me how to knit. As parents, we teach our children skills and pass down our favorite hobbies because it’s a way for us to connect with our kids, but it also gives them meaningful ways to connect with others. Valentine’s Day is a day where we celebrate those connections. Not just with romantic partners, but with friends, family, and everyone who’s loved us along the way. Everyone who’s taken the time to teach us something, or stand by us as we struggle to learn it for ourselves. Carl has stood by me in so many ways along the journey to creating GlueStick. Our family is stronger because of the connections we’ve crafted through countless creative endeavors, and I wouldn’t be the founder I am today without them. Show your kids some love today - not with candy and chocolate- but by making something with them. You never know what future connections that simple project will inspire.
