At GLSEN, we want every student, in every school, to be valued and treated with respect, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We believe that all students deserve a safe and affirming school environment where they can learn and grow. GLSEN Maryland, a local chapter of the larger national organization, is working towards these goals here in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. We aim to train our teachers, reach out to our students, and equip our community to ensure safe spaces for all students. Our current program, Safe Space for All, enables us to do this work across the State of Maryland. Every day GLSEN works to ensure that LGBT students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Join us as we transform our nation’s K-12 schools. Governor Wes Moore just signed two groundbreaking bills advancing educational opportunities and Maryland is joining a growing list of states that are banning book banning. ?? . . .     GLSEN Maryland is seeking diverse individuals across Maryland to join our chapter Board of Directors. As a board member, you'll oversee our chapter's growth and direction while advocating for LGBTQ+ k-12 kids in Maryland. We welcome expertise in management, fundraising, outreach, education, and LGBTQ issues. LGBTQ teachers, people of color, transgender/gender non-conforming individuals, people with disabilities, and immigrants are encouraged to apply. Applications close May 2 - we’ve extended it to allow more folks to apply. About GLSEN Maryland: We're a local chapter of GLSEN, ensuring safe schools for all students.
