关于我们
GLS is a San Francisco-based firm with landscape architects and architects under one roof. We are focused on the design and implementation of complex urban landscapes requiring a high degree of multi-disciplinary integration. Our capabilities include master planning, urban design, landscape architecture and architecture for institutional and residential buildings. We are especially skilled at working with planners, architects, engineers, public works departments and agencies to give form to our clients’ aspirations. Informed by all the forces at work in the contemporary landscape, from community needs to natural processes, civil engineering, buildings and urban design, GLS projects integrate interior and exterior spaces and materials, reinforce spatial ideas through horticultural design, and resolve issues of program, infrastructure, construction and ecology. With 23 years of experience focused almost exclusively on urban infill sites, and with a multi-disciplinary office culture, GLS stands apart in its broad range of services, design energy, and extensive construction experience.

For the 54th anniversary of Earth Day on Monday, April 22,?the Center for Architecture + Design, San Francisco presents Neutra: Survival Through Design, directed by P.J. Letofsky. The film explores Neutra’s early apprenticeship to European giants of landscape architecture following Neutra's upbringing in Vienna at the turn of the 19th Century. This experience formed the foundation for his 1920’s Berlin/Bauhaus days, working in Chicago with Frank Lloyd Wright and later in Los Angeles with Rudolph Schindler. It set his path to becoming a preeminent modern architect through a deep integration of landscape and architecture. GLS Principal?Gary Strang?will deliver?introductory comments. Following the screening,?Filmmaker P.J. Letofsky?and?Architectural Historian Dr. Barbara Lamprecht?will examine this lesser known dimension of Richard Neutra’s work, which distinguishes him from his International-style peers. ? Date: Monday, April 22, 2024 Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm?PDT Register Here: https://lnkd.in/gUWnABEk Image: Luckenwalde Forest Cemetery in Germany, designed by Richard Neutra in 1921.

As part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in San Francisco, President Biden hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping and other international leaders last night at the Exploratorium at Piers 15 and 17. This momentous occasion comes on the heels of the Exploratorium’s historic achievement of Net Zero Energy operations, making it the largest museum in the United States, if not the world, to generate as much or more energy than it uses on an annual basis. “As a global leader in science learning, we’re proud to model the innovation and resiliency needed to create a more sustainable world,” said Lindsay Bierman, the Exploratorium’s Executive Director and CEO. We are proud to have been part of the innovative team that converted two crumbling piers on the Embarcadero into a flexible, forward-thinking facility that is “an exhibit in and of itself,” creating maximum opportunities for improvisation, change and adaptability, and empowering visitors to care for our planet. Design partners: EHDD, Page & Turnbull, Introba, Kennedy Jenks, Nibbi Brothers General Contractors, Rutherford + Chekene

We are thrilled to receive a 2023 American Society of Landscape Architects National Honor Award in the Residential Design Category for Sister Lillian Community in San Francisco, completed with Paulett Taggart Architects and Studio VARA! Dedicated to Sister Lillian Murphy, Mercy Housing's pioneer in affordable housing who discovered, through her work in public health, a direct connection between physical health, mental health and housing, this community of 152 affordable homes in San Francisco’s Mission Bay is organized around its expansive, verdant open space. From the jury: “A purposeful and thoughtful design with the potential to greatly enhance the lives of a typically underserved population. This project demonstrates that a tight budget doesn't always have to be a downer. The designers have created a strong framework for social infrastructure!" #landscapearchitecture?#architecture?#affordablehousing?#sanfrancisco?#design?#community Team:?Paulett Taggart Architects, Studio VARA, KPFF Consulting Engineers, BōK MODERN, Apeiro Design, Cahill Contractors, Urban Design Consulting Engineers (UDCE).
