?? On Monday 17th Feb, GLocalFlex partners EDP Espa?a and GarcíaRama visited the #GLocalFlex rural pilot site in Spain, led by CTIC Centro Tecnológico and located in the picturesque Peón Valley in Asturias ??? ? The Spanish rural pilot site is an #EnergyCommunity comprising five households and the CTIC offices. The community is equipped with two #photovoltaic panel installations, totalling 100 panels and 11 batteries for #EnergyStorage, as well as an #EVcharger. As part of the GLocalFlex project, a water-to-water heat pump has been installed to power a fan coil system in the offices. ? In the households, #SmartMeters for overall consumption and #SmartPlugs for white goods, connected via LoRaWAN, have been deployed as part of the EU-funded DR-RISE project, which CTIC is involved in. This allows real-time monitoring of total energy consumption as well as individual appliance usage, which is integrated into the GLocalFlex project. ?? ? The batteries and inverters are housed in four recycled maritime containers, integrated into the surroundings, which CTIC has repurposed not only for energy storage but also for climate simulation experiments with different plant types, as part of other R&D initiatives. ? During the visit, partners learned about the diverse projects CTIC is involved in and the progress made at the rural pilot site for GLocalFlex. They also enjoyed a stroll around the site on a beautiful sunny morning, visiting the offices, battery installations, PV systems, HVAC setup, and more. ? ? The 5th #GLocalFlex General Assembly took place on 30–31 January at EDF’s R&D Campus in Paris. ? We were delighted to welcome 30 colleagues from 17 organisations across 8 countries onsite, with even more joining online. ??? ? ?? Day 1 kicked off with updates from each of our seven Work Packages on their progress and upcoming plans, followed by a Technical Replication Workshop. In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to explore EDF’s Smart Grids and IoT Laboratories ?? ? ?? Day 2 continued with a Business Models Workshop led by TECNALIA Research & Innovation, along with status updates on our project’s pilot sites in Spain, Switzerland, France, Germany, Finland, and Czechia. ? ?? Outside the formal sessions, we had the chance to connect with partners from diverse fields and areas of expertise, exchanging insights and ideas that enhanced collaboration. Conversations over lunch and coffee breaks provided a relaxed setting to strengthen relationships, enhance teamwork, and explore new opportunities for the next stages of the project—and we even managed to squeeze in some sightseeing! ?? ? ?? It was great to participate in the second day of GLocalFlex's General Assembly meeting in Paris ????????. Today we reviewed the state of the current pilot projects and followed up on some of yesterday's discussions. The #GLocalFlex General Assembly meeting is in full swing at the EDF campus in Paris! ? On the first day of our 5th GA, each of our seven Work Packages shared updates on their progress and upcoming plans, followed by a replicability workshop led by CSEM. In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to tour EDF’s Smart Grids and IoT Laboratories. ? Exciting discussions with our incredible partners as we tackle key challenges, drive sustainable #EnergyFlexibility solutions, and see two years of GLocalFlex innovation making an impact in real-world products! ???

?? ?? Spain, France, Switzerland, Czechia, Germany, and Finland. These countries are home to #GLocalFlex’s pilot sites, where we are testing innovative solutions that are shaping the future of energy. ? With a variety of environments, consumer types, and energy demands, these pilot sites are providing invaluable insights and helping us redefine energy flexibility. Here’s a look at what we are working on: ? SPAIN ???? Demonstrating the GLocalFlex approach in both rural and urban settings, focusing on flexibility capacity and energy sharing through demand response programmes. ? FRANCE ???? Engaging residential and non-residential consumers in Clamart with behavioural and automated strategies to activate flexibilities. These approaches will undergo a sociological evaluation to assess their impact. ? GERMANY ???? Combining TU Dortmund’s Smart Grid Technology Lab with a field trial site in Wunsiedel (Bavaria). Flexibility in Wunsiedel involves load shifting across actors such as households, a brewery, and the CHP, all supported by an advanced EMS. ? SWITZERLAND ???? In Lugano, two residential complexes are working towards full energy autonomy through the integration of a hydrogen production and cogeneration system. ? CZECHIA ???? Five demonstration sites in Kladno and central Bohemia are unlocking their flexibility potential via the CVUT cloud service, enabling remote management and optimisation. ? FINLAND ???? In Utaj?rvi, efforts are focused on the Industrial Park and the Municipality’s energy consumption and district heating network. ? ?? Thrilled to officially welcome INDEPENDENT research project to the #EnergyNexusCluster! ? The #INDEPENDENT project is developing an integrated software platform for seamless deployment of standard-compliant Customer and Aggregator Energy Management Systems (CEMS & AEMS) in buildings and industrial facilities. The platform consists of two main packages dedicated to the development of CEMS and AEMS, and a package to support efficient deployment and secure operations of the systems, with data spaces and tools for planning investments. The platform will be developed and qualified by four European pilots, involving energy service companies, aggregators, smart appliance manufacturers as well as their customers. ? As part of the Energy Nexus Cluster, INDEPENDENT research project joins a network of transformative projects, including ENFLATE, RESONANCE Project, Stream_HE project, SENERGY NETS, REEFLEX project, BeFlexible EU, ELEXIA Project and GLocalFlex. ?
