Rework partnered with Whitney Architects on a project for Globetrotters Engineering Corporation, a prominent architectural engineering firm in Chicago. We provided decommissioning services, office move logistics, reupholstery and design specification for their new office, offering a comprehensive solution that balanced functionality with the firm’s rich legacy. A standout feature of the office was the conference room table – an original piece from the 1980s when Globetrotters was first established. The piece was an essential part of the firm’s narrative, and restoration would honor the legacy of leadership transition within the family. Knowing the sentimental value behind this table, Rework took great care in meticulously refinishing it to ensure it seamlessly fit into the new office while preserving its significance. At Rework, we value the stories that our furniture carries, and this project was a reminder of the deep connections that office furnishings can have with a company’s past and future. The ACEC Awards was an exciting night for GEC! Globetrotters' Chief Operating Officer and Project Manager of the I-294 Reconstruction, Paul Gregoire, PE was awarded the 2025 Mentor of the Year for his exceptional dedication to mentoring and guiding engineers throughout the engineering community. Globetrotters received the 2025 Special Achievement Award for the I-294 Reconstruction from 75th Street to I-55 Ramps?and the 2025 Merit Award for the Oakton Community College Facade Inspection.

In Honor of Black History Month, we would like to reflect on one of Globetrotters Engineering Corporation's co-founders, William Moore. William “Bill” Moore, a veteran entrepreneur and native of Terra Haute, Indiana, who had fought in the US Army in the Battle of Normandy during World War II and later earned a degree in Construction Management from the University of Wisconsin. For 25 years, Mr. Moore had run his own successful construction firm and worked on a variety of public infrastructure projects in the Chicagoland region. But he and Mr. Shah recognized a larger market opportunity for civil engineering consultants who understood the local landscape. From 1980 to 1996, GEC also engaged with the Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) to run its Minority Business Development Centers in Gary, Indiana, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Indianapolis. Mr. Moore served as the Principal-in-Charge of the centers, for which Globetrotters provided management and technical assistance to certified minority and disadvantaged business enterprises (MBE/DBEs), as well as education and training opportunities to enhance the management and operational skills of minority entrepreneurs. The firm’s certification as a DBE in federal and local contracting opportunities helped GEC demonstrate its capabilities and capacity. Though it has since graduated from its original DBE status, GEC remains a certified MBE with the City of Chicago. Mr. Moore, who was an active leader in the local construction industry and served as Co-Chairman of the Chicago United Contractors Division, retired from Globetrotters in 2004 but continued providing valuable counsel to the firm in the ensuing years as President Emeritus and Director. He passed away at the age of 95 in 2019.?
