What a fun, busy season it's been at Globetrotters! Looking back at some highlights of the Summer of 2024: * we welcomed our latest cohort of interns, incoming seniors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Engineering * we honored Globetrotters' 50th anniversary with street banners in downtown Chicago during the month of July * our employees volunteered at the Cradle to Crayons annual Backpack-A-Thon at the Wintrust Arena, where our team helped to stuff 30,000 new backpacks with back-to-school supplies for kids in need *we celebrated with a summer party at Globetrotters' headquarters featuring our favorite sliders and subs from Whatever Lola Wants caterers *we gathered with our team working on the City of Chicago's smart lighting program for a deep-dish pizza lunch at the iconic Connie's Pizza *and, we were honored to be recognized as one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in Chicago! We're grateful to the National Association for Business Resources/The Best and Brightest Programs for selecting us for this award, which identifies and celebrates companies that deliver exceptional employment practices and demonstrate an impressive commitment to their employees. And for the City of Chicago, too, Summer 2024 was one for the history books. Meet Globetrotters' 2024 Summer cohort of engineering interns! Every year we recruit engineering students from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and University of Illinois Chicago into our Summer Internship Program. These future engineers, who started their internships in June, get real-world experience working in our offices on S. Wacker Dr. (pictured here) and out in the field on a wide variety of Globetrotters' ongoing projects throughout the summer. They'll be heading back to classes for their senior year at the end of August with the practical knowledge they've gained from our seasoned staff of professionals, and a jump-start on their future career paths. Last week we met up with Globetrotters' CDOT team for a pizza luncheon at iconic Connie's Pizza in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. Globetrotters CEO Ajay Shah and COO Paul Gregoire joined us for some traditional deep-dish slices while they caught up with the team about their ongoing work providing smart lighting services to the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). Our team also provides construction management for the arterial lighting and traffic signals throughout the City of Chicago and works directly with city staff at their field offices.
