When you realize that your efforts bring joy and enrich the lives of players around the world, every challenge feels worthwhile. ?Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions: I realized early on that no one has all the answers. I really encourage you to ask questions, seek help from your team, and never hesitate to clarify doubts. This openness and curious approach fosters growth and builds confidence. ?Embrace Starting from the Bottom: You have to start somewhere, and it’s okay to start small. Remember to embrace every project as a learning opportunity; every step forward, even the smallest, helps you build expertise and get closer to greater achievements. ?Embrace Challenges and Feedback: Taking on new challenges, even when they seem intimidating, has been a major part of my growth. I also see feedback as a valuable tool for improvement. Embrace both the hurdles and the constructive criticism — they are integral to honing your skills. ?Never Stop Learning: The industry is ever-changing, and there is always something new to master. I advise you to remain curious and committed to lifelong learning. Whether it's new technology or improving everyday skills, continuous learning is key to success. Continuing our celebration of exceptional women at #GlobalStep, we proudly spotlight Liliana Mestre, LQA Tester at our #PortugalStudio, whose curiosity and bravery inspire women everywhere. Experience in the Field and at GlobalStep Liliana’s journey is as unique as it is inspiring. With a background in sociology and a master’s degree in data science, she discovered her calling through an online Quality Assurance course — a discovery that led her to GlobalStep. At 50 years old, Liliana took a bold step into a new industry, becoming the first woman on the local team in Portugal. Despite initial challenges, including being the sole female trainee in a predominantly male group, she quickly embraced GlobalStep’s family-like environment. Today, her role centers on ensuring that localized content for the Spanish language authentically reflects cultural nuances, enabling players around the world to connect with games in their native expressions. ??5 Pieces of Advice for Aspiring Women in QA?? ? Never Give Up on Your Dreams: I believe no dream is too big or too late to pursue, and I’m an example of this. Regardless of your age or background, following your passion can lead you to a fulfilling career. ? Stay Curious and Embrace Learning: In a field like gaming, continuous learning is essential. Embrace every opportunity to expand your knowledge — it’s the key to growth and innovation. ? Build a Supportive Network: I’ve learned the value of surrounding myself with mentors and supportive colleagues. Don’t hesitate to seek guidance; a strong network is invaluable on your journey. Anytime I’ve asked for help, it’s been met with kindness and support. ? View Failure as a Steppingstone: Every setback is an opportunity to learn and improve. I’ve found that embracing failure and using it as a trampoline helps build resilience and expertise. ? Be Bold and Take the Leap: If you have a dream, go for it without hesitation. Trust in your abilities and know that nothing can stop you when you decide to pursue your passion wholeheartedly. Liliana is an excellent example of how being brave, curious, and open to asking for support can alter your career path, wherever you are.
