Yesterday, bright and early at the Hilton Hotel, Gateshead, we had a brilliant time at Smart Works' International Women's Day event! The day was filled with powerful speeches, inspiring stories, and impactful discussions on empowering women in the workplace. As proud sponsors, we're ecstatic to support such a phenomenal initiative that boosts women’s confidence and paves the way for their success. We also hosted our very own "EmPOWERment Zone", inviting attendees to write good luck cards for Smart Works clients, penning heartfelt messages to their younger selves, and leaving uplifting notes for others to take home. This afternoon, we welcomed Councillor Leigh Kirton, Labour Party Cabinet Member for Economy and Communications, and Andrew Tate, Enterprise Manager for Gateshead Council, to our offices for a discussion on employment growth, business expansion, and the energy sector’s role at the forefront of technological and economic change. As one of the region’s largest employers, we were proud to share how GPG continues to create opportunities, having already welcomed 60 new colleagues this year, with over 100 positions opening in 2025. Councillor Kirton recognised the scale of our impact, highlighting how businesses like GPG are driving economic growth in Gateshead: “It’s been fascinating to visit and see what’s happening here.
