Her passion for creating opportunities for others in tech stems from her own experiences and gratitude for the help she received. At Hack.Diversity, Michelle focuses on building bridges to empower diverse talent in the tech industry, encouraging collaboration between companies and aspiring professionals. Meet Carla Colin, President of the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Boulder County, Colorado. Under her leadership, the Chamber has significantly expanded, enhancing support for Latinx entrepreneurs. With a background in social work, Carla is dedicated to economic development and cultural recognition for Latinx and BIPOC populations in Colorado. Carla immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico City at 15, overcoming cultural and language barriers. She founded Mi Casa Azul LLC to promote Mexican and Colorado artists through fair trade and advocates for marginalized communities. Her journey—from her family's move to the U.S. to her work in social advocacy—shapes her commitment to empowerment and positive change. Denise's journey from a small town in Zacatecas, Mexico, to rural Colorado has fueled her commitment to her community. Fluent in Spanish and English, Denise and her sister often served as interpreters for their family, fostering a strong dedication to education. After graduating from Colorado College, she shifted her focus to community service, inspired by her volunteer work with immigrant children. Throughout her career in education and healthcare, Denise has worked tirelessly to empower underserved communities and enhance access to vital resources. Motivated by her parents' challenges in navigating complex systems, Denise aims to create equitable access to information and support, believing this will foster a healthier society.
