Traditions can provide opportunities for reflection, gratitude, and growth. At GKI, we like to partake in an annual practice of a “Year End Reflection” that embodies our values of curiosity, courage, and optimism. We looked back at personal and team highlights from 2024, a year of introspection, reevaluation, and development. We launched the Ju-Yen & Linnar Teng Initiative, met new partners, traveled to the US West Coast and the UK, worked with our network, and leveraged new technologies for the Toolkit’s eLearning curriculum. 2025 looks poised for greater cultivation and collaboration despite the many challenges facing global development. Wishing you all a successful ease into the new year! ??

Activating collaborative networks globally to deliver the innovative solutions needed to build more resilient systems.
关于我们
We believe the knowledge to foster a more resilient future already exists in the world, but the gap lies in how we connect the individuals who hold this ingenuity with one another so that we can do more together. We work on a wide range of complex challenges –, food security, disaster response, climate change, and economic inclusion – and at different levels - from the community to the global - to build a system that is more inclusive, adaptive, and delivers better outcomes for all. Recognizing innovating within systems is a human endeavor, we work in accompaniment with stakeholders in the system – innovators, investors, change agents, and leaders from across government, business, non-profit, and civil society - as representatives of their organizations and communities. We foster the environment, the mindset, and the experiences to enable diverse perspectives, capacities, and resources to cross-pollinate As stakeholders move through our collaboration journey, they gain the clarity of purpose, relationships, and momentum needed to disrupt, strengthen, and make more resilient the systems that impact their lives. Our programs are replicable and are grounded in the following universal foundations: - Systems-informed: We ensure that innovation efforts are focused on the opportunities within the system where disruption is not only possible but most impactful. - Stakeholder-led: We are in service to the stakeholders in the system, working as a champion, facilitator, and network-builder, to support them to achieve their vision for a more resilient system. - Action-oriented: We activate and connect the ingenuity, capacities, and resources in the system, ensuring incentives are in place to move people from conversation to innovation, collaboration, and collective action.

Our staff are taking over our LinkedIn feed to share their professional “summer camp” ? ?? activities! GKI Senior Manager Natalia reported back from last week’s InterAction Forum and had this to say: "The sessions on localizing humanitarian and development activities reminded me of the paramount need (and desire) to cultivate genuine relationships. Relationships hinge on trust, and trust takes time. It's not only about shifting resources to local organizations but also about adopting a different mindset, such as embracing a slower pace and not rushing the process. Funders need to take this into account. Implementers need to take this into account. Be intentional about how we're engaging and getting to know our local counterparts. Relationships are a two-way street requiring constant attention and effort."

Under the USAID-funded YouthPower 2 Learning & Evaluation (YP2LE) initiative, GKI partnered with Making Cents International to revitalize the YouthPower Learning Network (YPLN), a global community of over 5,000 youth practitioners. In 2019, GKI conducted a comprehensive assessment of the YPLN, identifying challenges in member engagement, collaboration, and youth leadership. GKI subsequently facilitated a human-centered redesign process, co-creating solutions with network members. These efforts resulted in a 35% increase in active participation and the establishment of Communities of Practice and mentorship programs to foster collaboration and youth leadership development.
