"Building statistical and methodological models that capture the complexity of the female experience is challenging—but essential. Our approaches must be as intersectional as the challenges we aim to solve." Could not agree more Camila Cano Shor! We are excited to launch our report predicting the health impacts of interventions on, in, and with women living in informal settlements, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity International. ?? Very motivated to have been part of the Expert Validation Workshop for the study “Health Equity Benefits of Adequate Housing.” This research explores how improving informal settlements can impact the health and well-being of women and girls—and accelerate progress toward the #SDGs. It was exciting to discuss the findings with such an incredible group of experts. My key takeaways: ?? The need to approach solution-building with a gender perspective cuts across every field that aims to build a better future. Like housing design and infrastructure, many everyday systems are built in ways that deeply impact women’s well-being. ?? Building statistical and methodological models that capture the complexity of the female experience is challenging—but essential. Our approaches must be as intersectional as the challenges we aim to solve. Thank you to Hábitat para la Humanidad México and the Global Insight team for inviting me to such a thoughtful discussion.
