#Vietnam is taking bold steps to build a cleaner, more reliable #energy future. The country is updating its national energy plan to improve energy security, attract new investments, and support the shift to #renewable power—all while staying on course to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Key priorities in the updated plan include: ? Expanding energy storage solutions, like battery systems and pumped hydro, to keep the grid stable (#BESS & PSH) ? Encouraging more private sector investment in clean energy ? Strengthening policies to speed up the energy transition Vietnam aims to deploy between 10 and 16 gigawatts of energy storage by 2030—a major move toward a more resilient power system. Through efforts like the national energy storage taskforce, the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and the Alliance are helping accelerate this shift. We are supporting the right policies, attracting investment, and offering technical advice to make renewable energy more reliable and accessible. I can’t say this strongly enough: closing the energy access gap in developing and emerging regions requires radical collaboration. That’s why I am filled with optimism after hearing about an incredible two days at the 2025 #SEforALL Global Forum. The discussions and partnerships forged over the past two days have highlighted the immense power of collective action in advancing sustainable energy and inclusive growth. ? A special thanks to Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (UN SRSG) for Sustainable Energy for All, for her leadership to convene global leaders eager to power the unstoppable energy transition. I’m also grateful to Isabel Beltrán and Wale Aboyade, PhD for their leadership in strengthening GEAPP’s partnerships and impact in LAC and Africa. The GEAPP team on the ground continues to pave the way for scalable clean energy projects and equitable economic development. ? Our Alliance recognizes the transformational potential of Private, Public, Philanthropic Partnerships (PPPPs). By combining different sectors’ resources, networks, and expertise, PPPPs can break down the barriers to a clean energy transition. Initiatives like the The World Bank and African Development Bank Group led Mission 300, which aims to electrify Africa and create two million direct jobs— and for which GEAPP partners catalyzed $50 billion in concessional capital at the Africa Energy Summit earlier this year—demonstrate the transformative power of these partnerships. Similarly, strategic partnerships—which are enabling transformative projects like the commissioning of a 500-kW interconnected minigrid (IMG) in Nigeria, BESS development in Barbados, and mesh-grid deployment across Haiti—drive tangible, locally-led solutions that create jobs and expand opportunities for communities. ? My recognition to GEAPP Leadership Council members Francesco La Camera and Mafalda Duarte, and all participants, speakers, and organizers for making this forum a resounding success. Together, we are making significant strides towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 and ensuring a cleaner, more equitable future for everyone.

? Following the successful commissioning of the 500 kW Robinyan interconnected mini-grid (IMG) in Ogun State, Nigeria, the GEAPP Alliance is celebrating another milestone! We’re excited to officially launch the 500 kW solar mini-grid in Ibaragun Community, Ogun State - made possible through the Nigerian Electrification Programme (NEP) in partnership with Darwin Coast and All On. This mini-grid is a testament to what’s possible when ambition, capital, and innovation combine. Providing up to 500 kW of clean, reliable energy, it will power local businesses, drive economic opportunities, and uplift the community. How do we enhance effective use of energy in rural communities across Latin America and the Carribbean? How do we collaboratively address the real, existing needs of these communities? “We need to empower these communities, not just ?? power ?? them. We need to focus on the people, and not just the technology,” said Alliance partner Cristina Dominguez from NRECA International. GEAPPs Isabel Beltrán moderated a rich discussion surrounding Latin America’s Universal Access Coalition, which was developed as a collective push to bridge knowledge gaps and catalyze finance through a multi-donor approach in the region.
