??Are you hearing about APRA Investment Forum right now? We're here to break down what it is and why we're excited about it. APRA stands for Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa, which is an African country-led alliance. That's three things we love: 1. An Alliance 2. Accelerating partnerships 3. Renewable energy solutions in Africa But it doesn't stop there. This week it's the first ever APRA Investment Forum, which is a critical time to bring together these stakeholders and unlock solutions for climate finance and funding for renewable energy solutions. It's a pretty big deal -- and we're lucky that the Government of Kenya and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) are hosting it, showing the international support for this. But secretly, we're most excited about how the APRA Investment Forum can help ensure financing for Mission 300, an ambitious new initiative, led by The World Bank Group and African Development Bank Group, which aims to electrify 300 million in Africa by 2030. It's a project we're also helping support (alongside our Alliance partners at The Rockefeller Foundation and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL)). ?? Only half of Haiti’s ???? population has access to electricity. In rural areas, that figure drops to just 15%. Without power, economic development stalls. ?? Did you miss us? We were quiet last week after a busy UNGA week, or should we say GEAPP week. We wanted to come back with even more messages about the great work we're doing alongside our alliance around the globe. So here's a quick world tour: In Latin America and the Caribbean, we're spending some time in Brazil ???? as part of the Clean Energy Ministerial. One of our highlights? Seeing the potential for Productive Use of Energy (PUE) in the Amazon and being able to exchange with other top experts. In Kenya ???? this week, we're at GOGLA's Off Grid Solar Forum and Expo where we're sharing our distributed renewable energy (#DRE) solutions in Haiti ???? , with the work of our friends at Okra Solar as well as continuing to share our support for the The World Bank Group and African Development Bank Group initiative, Mission 300, which is #PoweringAfrica. While in Asia, we were busy with the The Rockefeller Foundation's Asia Xhange in Thailand ???? while also making time to continue to explore the potential of clean energy transitions in Indonesia ????, Vietnam ???? and more. And this is just a sample of our work...as our new CEO Woochong Um puts it, "time zones don't matter in the work that we do.
