In Cleveland, Opening Day is a nearly religious holiday. Spring here follows the baseball calendar more than anything. I wonder how many people who witnessed Doug Jones' Cleveland debut back in 1986 thought they were seeing the start of an improbable and incredible career. Jones wore #46 in his inaugural season - the knuckleballer went on to save 129 games in his Cleveland career - good enough for 4th place all-time for the team. Current Guards closer Emmanuel Clase (at just age 26!) is already the franchise leader in saves with 157 and coming off an epic 2024 season. Clase is a huge reason the Guards have made the Postseason 2 of the last 3 seasons, including last season's run to the ALCS.
