Today is International Women's Day! Thank the women in your life who have had impact, and invest in women and inclusion!
Today is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate all the women who have been warriors for the rest of us. On this day, I want to focus on one woman who had a significant impact on my life, and until recently, I wasn't even aware. Her name is Dr. Jane Cook Wright. Dr. Wright, known as the Godmother of chemotherapy, brought chemotherapy to the forefront by creating clinical trials to understand dosages that could be effective on many cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma. Her work has saved countless lives, including mine. Eight years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Without chemotherapy, I would not be here today. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Wright, a woman who had a great impact on my life without ever knowing me. On this International Women's Day, I encourage you to reach out to the women who have had a significant impact on your life. Call them, write to them, or go and see them. Say thank you for the impact they've had on YOUR life. Let's celebrate the incredible women who have shaped our lives and continue to inspire us every day. In addition, commit to supporting women in your workplace. Sponsor them. Advocate for them when they're not in the room. Or when they are! Let's not just make this a one day commitment.
