"The most transformational learning for me has been how to be and feel present and the impact this creates for me and others, this will change everything" Feedback from this weeks 2 day workshop really emphasised the importance of the ability to be present as essential in leadership. But why does this matter? Being present shapes how people perceive, trust, and respond to you. A leader with strong presence creates confidence, clarity, and connection, which directly impacts their ability to influence and inspire others. Horses are powerful teachers of presence in leadership development because they respond to energy, intention, and nonverbal communication in real time. Here’s how they help us cultivate presence: Immediate Feedback?– Horses react honestly to your energy, clarity, and consistency. If you are distracted, uncertain, or incongruent, the horse will not respond effectively. This instant feedback helps you develop greater self-awareness. Nonverbal Communication?– Since horses don’t rely on words, they allow you to be more mindful of their body language, tone, and emotions. This enhances presence by shifting the focus from what is said to how it is conveyed. Emotional Regulation?– Horses mirror human emotions. If you are anxious, the horse will reflect that. You have the opportunity to learn to regulate your emotions and stay grounded, which enhances your ability to stay present in high-pressure situations. Building Trust and Connection?– Horses do not follow positional authority; they follow when you exhibit calm confidence, clarity, and trustworthiness. This teaches you to cultivate authentic presence rather than relying on titles or force. Focus and Mindfulness?– To engage with a horse, you must be fully present in the moment. Any distraction or overthinking causes disconnection, reinforcing the importance of mindfulness in effective leadership. Thank you to the horses for all that you continue to teach us and Bonita and I sharing a moment together in the sun. Global Warriors Ltd
