  • AI and Authenticity in Business ---------------------------------- As your use of AI moves from novel exploration/experimentation to genuine use cases in your business operations and customer interactions - what are the morale, social, and economic impacts going to be? AI and Authenticity in Business ---------------------------------- As your use of AI moves from novel exploration/experimentation to genuine use cases in your business operations and customer interactions - what are the moral, social, and economic impacts going to be? Undoubtedly, the benefits will be manifold - but at what cost to very society we are seeking to improve? This weekend, I spent some time considering the use of AI in the creative fields I care deeply about - graphic design, photography, filmmaking - and what happens to those creatives when AI can write a script on trending subjects, and generate/animate actors in a fake film. Some are adapting their business models to leverage AI, but many cannot/will not. How do we feel as individuals when the content we consume is AI generated, and we interact with brands via AI? I consume a lot of YouTube content from a wide variety of content creators - more and more, I am irritated by AI generated content. I considered the excellent work by Kosta Iatrou - Brand Strategist on my own brand-building, which has served me well. He brings a depth of human experience to bear on his client engagements - making the experience and process very enjoyable. So I put AI to work on a theoretical project to refresh my brand photographs, using https://app.artflow.ai/ to explore 'the art of the possible'. The images below are the output from the brief (in the form of an AI prompt - reproduced at end of the article), side by side with Kosta's work. Whilst Kosta's work was deliberately 'white background' for easy adaptation to multiple projects, I thought i would exercise the AI to 'dress' the background, lighting, mood, and style. Besides sticking to the brief by generating 4 images per the AI prompt, it also generated another 8 business variants, as well as - surprisingly - 4 images of me in a Thor-U-Like costume - showing vendors desires to attract as wide a client base as possible. On seeing the images, a friend commented that "I'll buy your motivation book now", which led me to create an example AI video as if it was promoting the book. (For me, the voice used is not convincing enough - nor is the facial movement). Seeing the AI images of yourself is strange - my mind is convinced enough that I can positively feel it trying to tell me that this 'AI photoshoot' is now an experienced memory - the 'uncanny valley' sensation is very real. In an era where the 'cult of celebrity' and aspirations to become social media 'influencers' drives many people into creative ventures - short-cutting the journey / creation of content with AI is not so much a temptation, but probably a necessity. In a very short period of time we will see the effects of AI on society and businesses and how we perceive it's use. I personally see it's use as disingenuous, inauthentic - and lacking in true wisdom. For this writer at least, authentic human content rules the roost. • Love this simple CHANGE model: "Most changes fail, especially if they are complex. But why? The Lippitt-Knoster model explains exactly why you don’t get what you want. " Thanks for sharing, Jeroen Kraaijenbrink https://lnkd.in/gyS429EQ

Most changes fail, especially if they are complex. But why? The Lippitt-Knoster model explains exactly why you don’t get what you want. Making changes is notoriously difficult, especially if they are substantial and complex. In response, there are many change management approaches and step-by-step instructions for managing change. But, to manage change, it is essential to first understand it. Once we know the key ingredients of a successful change, we know what it takes to make it. Even more importantly, once we know these ingredients, we also know WHY a change fails, so that we can do something about it. According to the Lippitt-Knoster Model for Managing Complex Change, a complete change effort requires the following six ingredients: ?? Vision: sets the direction and explains why the change is needed ?? Consensus: creates alignment and commitment for the change ?? Skills: outlines the skills and expertise needed to realize the change ?? Incentives: creates the motivation and drive to make the change ?? Resources: enables the change with the needed?time, money and tools ??Action Plan: clarifies the roadmap and steps for realizing the change All six are needed. Consensus was added later by Knoster and it’s not so clear if both originators agree. Yet, I find it essential for any change to be successful, so you need all six. If you miss one you don’t get the change you want. ? Miss Vision and you get Confusion ? Miss Consensus and you get Sabotage ? Miss Skills and you get Anxiety ? Miss Incentives and you get Resistance ? Miss Resources and you get Frustration ? Miss Action Plan and you get False Starts So, here is what it takes to make a successful (complex) change: Step 1: Vision. Create and share a clear vision of the change and why it is needed. What will the new situation look like? Step 2: Consensus. Engage people across the organization to gather input and align their viewpoints in line with the vision. Step 3: Skills. Identify which skills are needed, provide the necessary training, upskill or attract people with the right skills. Step 4: Incentives. Understand what motivates people and create the right mechanisms for intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Step 5: Resources. Reserve enough time and money for making the change and obtain the necessary tools, technologies and other resources. Step 6: Action Plan. Develop a high-level roadmap and detailed action plan that outlines the priorities, order and steps for making the change. === Want to create true and lasting change?
