?? Greetings Sacramento Home Host Community! ?? From September 25th to October 5th, Global Ties Sacramento will proudly host five delegates from Azerbaijan, accompanied by a U.S. Embassy facilitator and a local translator. These young professionals, aged 25 to 45, hail from various think tanks and are excited to engage with Sacramento leaders and local think tanks, fostering connections and gaining valuable insights. During their stay, they will also explore and experience the vibrant culture of Sacramento. We are currently seeking two more overnight homestay hosts for this delegation. Hosting Open World Program delegates is a unique opportunity for them to experience life in the United States, develop deeper connections within the host community, and immerse themselves in the local culture. Similarly, hosts have the chance to build meaningful relationships with the delegates and participate in various program activities. If you are interested in hosting an overnight homestay or would like more information, please respond directly to this post or contact Claudia Ramirez at [email protected]. Join us in making this international exchange a memorable and impactful experience for all! ?? #GlobalTiesSacramento #OpenWorldProgram #InternationalExchange #CulturalExchange #HomestayHosting

Last week, we had a thought-provoking and insightful discussion with the Sacramento County Office of Education Reentry programs. Thank you, Christi Fee, Natalya Weltman, Pete Smith, and our five #IVLP participants from the Philippines, for your valuable contributions to this discussion.
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) capped off the Sacramento briefings at the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) with a meaningful dialogue on their re-entry programs, headed by Christi, the Director, in the 58 sites across California as they work hand in hand with the CDCR, the counties, the district attorney’s office, and the courts in ensuring they attain their common goal of making sure they adjust well as they rejoin society and keeping them especially women outside the criminal justice system. Kudos to Global Ties Sacramento, and Meridian International Center, for the extensive itinerary #StateIVLP #IVLP

We started off the Sacramento, CA briefings strong. We met with our wonderful program coordinator Claudia from the Global Ties Sacramento. Thank you Meridian International Center for your fantastic choice of community partners for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State U.S. Embassy in the Philippines. We had a briefing with the Anti-Recidivism Coalition and learned about the dynamics of local government and non profit organizations. We were also met by the Project Rebound Team of the Sacramento State University, one of the schools to have bachelor’s degrees available for incarcerated individuals. Finally, the day’s meetings ended at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Unit where matters on alternatives to jail and sophiscated technology such as ankle monitors among others were discussed. They also had a Filipino in their workforce, which was a treat in addition to the awesome welcome station they prepared. There are freedoms we enjoy that others suffer for. Cannot wait for tomorrow’s activities ???????? #StateIVLP #IVLP

Thank you, Public Advocates, for your wonderful contributions to the #IVLP we hosted in June. Global Ties Sacramento had the honor of connecting 21 international visitors from around the world on their IVLP exchange focused on Transparency and Accountability in Government II. During their program in Sacramento, the visitors met with representatives from Public Advocates to discuss their advocacy efforts for a transparent government.
CRDF Global recently hosted a cohort of government officials, community leaders, and academics from 20 different countries to examine mechanisms for government accountability and transparency, including the critical roles that civil society and media play. Visitors traveled across Washington, DC, Sacramento, Cincinnati, and Austin to meet with local government entities, community organizations, and media companies to share best practices. #IVLP U.S. Department of State World Affairs Council - Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Global Ties Sacramento GlobalAustin

It was great connecting this International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) group with The McConnell Foundation for their program focused on the Mekong Ecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation. #IVLP #MekongEcosystem #BiodiversityConservation #TheMcConnellFoundation
It's so nice to have colleagues from Southeast Asia in my home region of California for the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program! This was a lively conversation and an excellent opportunity to meet environmental conservation leaders in the Mekong region - new and familiar. I appreciated the chance to learn from all participants in the "Mekong Ecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation" program and honored for the invitation to share The McConnell Foundation's supported programs in Lao PDR with all of you. Thank you to Global Ties Sacramento for hosting and providing a conducive space for discussion. #Mekong #IVLP #SDGpartnerships #Climate

Thanks for sharing your IVLP experience in Sacramento Kristy!
The Judicial Council of California allowed the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Philippine delegation today to learn and understand the court system in California. We were met by the brilliant and humble director, Cory, and his team, where Dana, the attorney for pro bono representation, as well as the Admin Support, Luz, are Filipinos. Thereafter, we had the privilege of being toured around the Third District, District Courts of Appeal, by the Hon. Justice Ronald Robbie and Justice Shama Mesiwala themselves. We found out that a Filipino was also appointed as Chief Justice of California, Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye. We headed to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office – Reentry Services Bureau for the afternoon session and even enjoyed coffee made by the inmates working under their barista program. Apart from the immense pride to see Filipinos abroad engaged in their own craft, the exchange of ideas and conversations today were truly eye-opening, and incredible. Thank you, Sacramento, next stop San Francisco! #StateIVLP #IVLP
