Global Ties Detroit was delighted to host Dr. Ali El Boukhary along with other delegtaes in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) International Partnerships in Higher Education. We are honored to see that Global Ties Detroit's contribution to hosting this group in Detroit has made an impact in the Nouakchott University of Mauritania! ?? ?? Thank you to Lawrence Technological University, Oakland University, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University, Michigan's University Research Corridor, and Michigan Association of State Universities for taking the time to meet with this delegation and be a part of transforming global education through exchange!

Last Fall, Global Ties Detroit was selected to hold a four-day workshop?on emerging technologies?this month for 30 international?Humphrey Program?fellows. The Workshop, scheduled for March 2025, was canceled due to the federal funding freeze, but?Global Ties Detroit persevered, maintaining its commitment to facilitating cross-cultural exchange and skill-sharing.?Last Friday, Global Ties Detroit welcomed five Humphrey fellows (from Belarus, El Salvador, Panama, Nicaragua, and Tongo) to Detroit along with a visiting scholar (from Kazakhstan) for a?Google Gemini Workshop?led by Data and AI Engineer Bandhan Preet K.. Thank you, Bandhan, for generously volunteering your time and invaluable expertise! Furthermore, two of the fellows spent the week in Detroit engaging with Fareed Y. Shalhout and his team at Wayne State University, exploring the city's cultural landmarks, visiting Ann Arbor, attending a Detroit Red Wings Game, and?touring The Henry Ford Museum and Mexicantown with Global Ties Detroit board of directors member Edward D. Clemente.?Because nothing stops Detroit! ?? ?? ???

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Alvin Saperstein. Al and his wife Harriet Saperstein are long-time generous supporters of Global Ties Detroit. Through the years the Sapersteins have served as Dinner Diplomats and Homestay Hosts to many young leaders, including for our International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Mandela Washington Fellowship, and TechGirls participants.
