We are so grateful to everyone that attended our Global Ties Alabama Annual Meeting on October 15th. We had a wonderful turnout, and we would like to thank our special guests again for coming. We also want to thank our guest speaker, Patrick J. Murphy, who gave a wonderful speech about diplomacy and globalizing your mind. Congratulations to all of our awardees, like Yaryna Zhurba, our Global Peace recipient; thank you for contributing so greatly to our global community. Our Visitors from Poland, with the theme of Holocaust and Human Rights Education, had the opportunity to visit the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute where they met with Barry Neely, an educator at BCRI. While in Birmingham, the participants focused on programs for teachers and students that focus on practical aspects of educating about tolerance, human rights, and the Holocaust and explored creative approaches to promote diversity, foster inclusive public attitudes, address sensitive issues by working across institutional lines, and expand collaborative networks.
