Global Rights Defenders' Human Rights Expert, Audrey Cisti emphasizes that children are increasingly being exploited by extremist groups, who recruit them as operatives for violence. International legal frameworks like the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) seek to protect children, but counter-terrorism laws, such as the UK’s Prevent strategy, are raising concerns about children’s rights being undermined. The Prevent program, which targets children as young as 10, is criticized for discrimination, invasion of privacy, and violating freedom of expression. Happy to participate in HIAS Kenya round table dialogue on inclusion of LGBTQI+ Displaced Persons How as allies can we better include LGBTQI+ voices in the forced displacement space?
