  • "C.G. Jung offered a powerful insight: 'Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.' As a coach, leader and mentor, I've observed how often our hidden beliefs and motivations influence our leadership. Sometimes, we find ourselves repeating patterns or encountering similar challenges without fully understanding why. This isn't about blaming ourselves or suggesting we have all the answers. It's simply acknowledging that we all have blind spots. Exploring these areas can offer valuable insights and opportunities for growth. Here are a few ways to begin that exploration: Reflective Pauses: Take a few moments each day to simply observe your thoughts and feelings. What are you avoiding? Curious Inquiry: When faced with a recurring challenge, ask yourself: "What might be influencing my perspective here?" Exploring Through Learning – Professional Development: Consider reading books, taking courses or workshops, listening to podcasts, join a mastermind group The process of becoming more aware is a journey, not a destination. It's about cultivating a curiosity towards ourselves and our experiences. Reflection Question: What small step might you take to bring more awareness to your own patterns? #LeadershipDevelopment #SelfAwareness #Jung #Reflection #Coaching #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness #grnmemphis

  • In life, we often encounter challenges, setbacks, and unexpected changes. But remember, "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become" - Carl Jung. Don't let past failures or perceived limitations hold you back. Focus on the skills you want to develop, the goals you want to achieve, and the leader you want to be. This quote is a call to action. Take control of your career narrative. Invest in yourself, embrace learning, and proactively shape your professional trajectory. What steps are you taking to become the professional you aspire to be? You don't have navigate the alone. Think about when you plan a trip, vacation, etc. You seek information, guidance and support. Have you worked with a coach? Maybe a coach can help you overcome that block that is keeping you from your vision. #CareerDevelopment #Leadership #ProfessionalGrowth #Motivation #CarlJung #grnmemphis

  • "Who looks outside, DREAMS; Who looks inside, AWAKES." Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss Psychiatrist and psychoanalyst that I ran across in my readings on self-development and personal growth. He was known for his theory of personality. The focus was on the interaction between the conscious and the subconscious mind. "Who looks outside, DREAMS..." This refers to focusing on the external world, on material possessions, social status, and external validation. Jung suggests that when we primarily focus on these things, we are essentially living in a "dream." This isn't a literal dream, but a state of being where we are driven by external forces and illusions, rather than our true selves. It implies a lack of genuine self-awareness and a reliance on external stimuli for fulfillment. This is a state of being where you are allowing outside influences to dictate your feelings, and actions. "...Who looks inside, AWAKES." This signifies introspection, self-reflection, and exploring the depths of one's own psyche. "Awakening" implies a shift from a passive, externally driven state to an active, conscious state. It's about becoming aware of one's own thoughts, feelings, motivations, and the unconscious aspects of the self. By looking inward, you are searching for your true self and understanding your own motivations. This is the process of individuation, a key concept in Jungian psychology, which involves integrating the conscious and unconscious aspects of the personality. In essence, the quote highlights the importance of: Self-awareness: Understanding your own inner world is crucial for personal growth and fulfillment. Individuation: The process of becoming a whole and integrated person. Moving beyond external illusions: Recognizing that true happiness and meaning come from within, not from external sources. The power of introspection: The ability to look inward and understand your own thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Jung believed that the unconscious mind held a wealth of wisdom and potential, and that by exploring it, we could achieve a deeper understanding of ourselves and live more authentic lives. The quote serves as a reminder to prioritize inner exploration over external pursuits. #awareness #personalgrowth #professionaldevelopment #grnmemphis

  • We assign meaning to everything. Every glance, every word, every situation is filtered through our unique lens, shaped by our experiences, beliefs, and emotions. This is especially true in crucial conversations – high-stakes discussions where opinions diverge and emotions run high. These conversations can make or break relationships, careers, and even our sense of well-being. As a Coach and Recruiter, I help clients and candidates navigate some of the most impactful conversations in their personal and professional lives. Our mastermind group is currently delving into the art of handling these challenging dialogues with the book Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High. This book isn't just about communication; it's about understanding how we create meaning and how that meaning shapes our interactions. Our goal is to increase awareness and value in these high-pressure moments. Over the next several weeks, we'll explore the tools and strategies outlined in Crucial Conversations, sharing insights, challenges, and "aha" moments as we learn to approach tough conversations with grace and effectiveness. What was the last book you read? What was the last book you studied? Our mastermind group selects books to read, study, and discuss to grow and improve ourselves so that we can show up better on our journeys. #CrucialConversations, #CommunicationSkills, #LeadershipDevelopment, #Negotiation, #ConflictResolution, #Coaching, #Recruiting, #Mastermind, #PersonalGrowth, #grnmemphis

  • Quitters' Friday = Fuzzy Thinking Yes, today is often called "Quitters' Friday"—the day many have given up on their New Year's resolutions. The problem wasn't the resolution itself, but the fuzzy thinking behind it. A resolution without clear goals and a strong "why" is destined to fail. To achieve any goal, you need: Clarity: A well-defined target, not a vague wish. Desire: A deep emotional connection to the outcome. This "why" allows you to create a vivid mental image and an emotional link to your desired result. As Napoleon Hill said in Think and Grow Rich, you must have "definite plans and a burning desire to win." This applies to all forms of "riches"—health, financial freedom, relationships, well-being—not just money. Take time to think about what you truly want. Visualize it, understand your "why," and take daily steps towards it. You then gain control over where—and when—you "quit." I help clients gain clarity around their vision and "why" to achieve their life goals. 2025 can be awesome—and you don't have to do it alone. #goals #clarity #motivation #newyearsresolutions #coaching

  • New Year's Resolution vs. Goal: A Family Tradition Growing up, my family always celebrated New Year's Eve with a traditional Southern dinner of cabbage, black-eyed peas, and ham – for health, wealth, and happiness, of course! I continued the tradition with my own family, and we added a discussion on resolutions. But more importantly, we focused on setting goals rather than resolutions. We'd gather around the table after our celebratory meal and discuss what we hoped to achieve in the coming year. It wasn't just about making a wish; it was about defining specific desired outcomes and creating actionable plans to get there. This approach has stuck with me throughout my life. I've learned that while a "resolution" might be a strong intention, a goal provides a roadmap. It requires you to envision your ideal future and break it down into concrete steps. Just like my family's annual goal-setting ritual, I've found that surrounding myself with a supportive network – mentors, coaches, and mastermind groups – is crucial. These relationships provide invaluable insights and encouragement, helping me stay on track and overcome obstacles. So, as we embark on a new year, I encourage you to consider your "WHY." What drives your desire for change? Define your goals, create a plan, and don't hesitate to seek guidance from those who can help you on your journey. I wish you a prosperous 2025 filled with achievement and fulfillment! #grnmemphis #goalsetting #coaching

  • Unlocking Your Goals: A Mindset Shift We hear the phase "growth mindset" or "positive mindset" but what does it mean? And what is a "Mindset Shift" Mindsets are primarily rooted in our way of thinking – our beliefs, assumptions, and interpretations of the world. These thoughts then shape our actions and ultimately influence our results. What Mindset Really Is: A set of deeply held beliefs. A filter for experience. A driver of behavior. Mindsets significantly influence our actions, choices, and ultimately, our outcomes. As you set your Goals for 2025, ask yourself about what is your mindset? Do you need a shift in your mindset to ensure you achieve your goals. Do you have the tools? Maybe it is time to partner with a coach that can help you have a higher level of success and have great outcomes in 2025. Ready to explore how a coaching partnership can help you achieve breakthrough results in 2025? Let's connect
