I recently had a productive meeting with Prime Minister Américo Ramos of S?o Tomé and Príncipe (STP), focusing on key topics shaping the future of this island nation. We discussed development initiatives to foster economic growth and improve infrastructure, exploring sustainable projects that benefit both urban and rural communities. We also addressed security and defense issues in light of the region's complex geopolitical landscape. Our dialogue included collaborative efforts to enhance national security while reinforcing community resilience through Forsvar STP. Additionally, we reviewed our non-profit initiatives at Global Lifeline Initiative, aimed at supporting education, healthcare access, and environmental sustainability. After recent challenges in STP, it feels like a new day is dawning—filled with hope for positive change. The situation in Haiti, along with the involvement of MSS and deployments from developing nations to "secure" the country, unfortunately results in little to no meaningful change. These efforts are not genuinely designed for transformation. The stark reality is that these large-scale multinational initiatives often serve as embezzlement mechanisms that benefit the ruling authorities of both the host and participating foreign nations. The same worn-out strategies used by these criminal enterprises to mask their actions under a "humanitarian" guise are becoming increasingly transparent. I have personally witnessed in Haiti how far these corrupt entities will go to sustain their schemes. We have reported our experiences at various levels of the U.S. Government, including reaching out to Marco Rubio, who is expected to be the new Secretary of State. The uncomfortable truth about Haiti is that channeling support through Port-au-Prince and existing government structures has never made a significant impact, nor will it ever do so. The same applies to many current nonprofits and NGOs operating within Haiti. However, there is potential for change through cooperative efforts aimed at building capabilities and resilience among local populations outside Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien—bypassing corrupt channels can indeed make a difference. Haitians are compelled to depend on an ineffective government structure for support which often dwindles or disappears entirely by the time it reaches those most in need. I am fully committed to supporting individual communities on a larger scale as this contributes significantly towards national stability. My focus areas for #2025 with Forsvar Concepts and Global Lifeline Initiative include health, education, security, and infrastructure development.
