Good teachers...are able to weave a complex web of CONNECTIONS among themselves, their subjects and their students so that students can learn to weave a world for themselves... "The connections made by good teachers are held not in their methods but in their heart ?? -meaning heart in its ancient sense, as the place where intellect and emotion and spirit and will converge in the human self." From the Courage to Teach by Parker J. Palmer What does this bring up for you? Leave a comment. #teachingandlearning #traininganddevelopment

Journaling is such an effective strategy to becoming a better educator/trainer/facilitator. Carving out a regular time in your day to reflect on your work can unlock hidden treasures. Whether it is first thing in the morning, over lunch or after your workday is done, an intentional and consistent time to think back and wonder can be helpful. You can capture thoughts, ideas, quotes, and questions related to your work. Then, you can revisit these at the end of the day, week or month and allow them to inform future action and decision-making. Jessica L. Diala Ajlouni, ATC Rebecca Miller, MPH, MS Claudia Quinonez What reflective questions can we ask ourselves as #facilitators to help us celebrate and improve our performance? #facilitationskills #traininganddevelopment

Choice is very important for learners! The opportunity for learners to choose how they will work builds safety and relevance into the learning environment. Offering CHOICE is both a demonstration of respect for learners as adults having autonomy, and a way to build mutual accountability. How do you offer CHOICE in your learning design? Let's chat about it. #adultlearning #traininganddevelopment

What do you think about small group work? We think working in pairs, trios and small groups can greatly enhance the learning experience. Breaking out in pairs, trios and/or small group work helps to ensure safety, engagement and inclusion. Most adult learners have a hard time contributing to a large group discussion. The dynamic of small groups enables all learners to actively engage and contribute to dialogue. You can do small group work at tables or walking around the room, or in virtual breakout rooms. How do you use pairs, trios and/or small groups in your teaching/training? What benefits/challenges do you recognize with using pairs, trios and/or small groups? Let us know in the comments. #teaching #traininganddevelopment
