The Global Human Settlements Foundation (GHSF), chartered on November 29, 2023, in the State of New York, is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity organized to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. Our mission is to promote a greener, healthier, and more livable planet for all. The Foundation aims to promote global sustainable development by encouraging and rewarding innovation and leadership on sustainable cities and human settlements, as well as in the mitigation and adaption to climate change. Specifically, GHSF is dedicated to supporting and amplifying the efforts of the Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS). As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity recognized by the United Nations and holding the Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC since 2015, GFHS serves as a global platform for high-level dialogue and is committed to promoting sustainable cities and human settlements for all. Since 2005, GFHS has been convening its annual forums at the UN headquarters and across five continents for 18 consecutive years. The prestigious Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards issued by the GFHS have become one of the world’s most important recognitions on sustainable development.

As a follow-up discussion and action of the United Nations Summit of the Future, the 19th Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements and New Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards Ceremony (GFHS 2024) was successfully held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on October 24, the UN Day, with the theme being “Invigorate Innovation and Local Leadership for a Sustainable Urban Future”. The forum brought together nearly 400 professional participants including 20+ ambassadors, representing 40+ countries. It was broadcast live on UN WEB TV. The forum was addressed by dozens of honorable guests including Ambassador Harold Adlai Agyeman, Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations, Vice Chairman of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, Dr. Ivor Richard Fung, Chief of Staff, Office of the President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, Ambassador Odo Tevi, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Vanuatu to the United Nations,?Prof. Fnu Oudom, Trade Commissioner of The Republic of Vanuatu to New York, United State of America, Honorary Chairman of Global Forum on Human Settlements, Co-Chairman of Global Human Settlements Foundation,?Ms. Paola Albrito, Director of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Ms. Lisa Flavia Garcia, Regional Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States, among others.
