Between economic barriers and social constraints, girls drop out of school for many reasons. But with the 4-month professional training programs that Jamnel Care hosts, new doors are opening.?? ? ?? From hairdressing to soap-making, these young women learn?practical skills to build independent futures. The global gag rule blocks U.S. foreign aid to organizations providing abortion services, leaving millions without essential healthcare. Women, girls and marginalized communities are most affected by this policy. The time to fight for our rights is now. ?? As our grantee partner in Uruguay reminds us, full access to reproductive rights is fundamental to gender justice.

Artists are #MakingBlackHistory everyday by using their art as a tool for new visions of the world! Here are three artists to follow this Black History Month:? ? Gesiye (she/they) is a multi-disciplinary artist from a Nigerian-Trinidadian family, who uses performance, tattooing, installation, and image-making to explore embodiment and storytelling as forms of liberation. ? ? Kearra Maya (they/them) is an anti-disciplinary visual artist from Carpichaima, Kairi, the larger of the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago. Their work exists as a result of and in conversation with various social movements across the Caribbean and its' diasporas. Lehna Huie (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist of Jamaican heritage born in New York City. Lehna is committed to uplifting stories of Black identity as a means to explore international connections among the Pan African and Caribbean Diasporas.
