Over the past three years, Global Fund for Women has been proud to serve as their fiscal sponsor, providing essential support they needed to grow. Now, as VidaAfrolatina graduates from our program, we celebrate their remarkable achievements: ?? Expanding grantmaking from 4 pilot partners to 17 across Latin America? ?? Gaining new multi-year funding partners & joining global networks of women's funds? ?? Driving awareness and action through collaboration, education, and advocacy The fiscal sponsorship program is a continuation of our commitment to gender justice movements, helping sustain them by allowing U.S. donors to support feminist funds directly.??

Shifting power back to climate justice movements in the Caribbean! Caribbean Feminist Climate Justice Movements, supported by Global Fund for Women, awarded $500,000+ in grants to 22 women-led organizations working on the intersection of climate and gender justice.? The 22 organizations span over 10 countries in the Caribbean including, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. Caribbean nations are increasingly affected by increases in temperature, the growing impacts of tropical cyclones, storm surges, droughts, changing precipitation patterns, and are at risk of greater and more severe impacts; which is disproportionate to their global greenhouse gas emissions as they (like other small island nations, including those in the Pacific) are among the lowest contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions- accounting for less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions.?Young women and girls in SIDS continue to play a key role in mobilising for gender just climate solutions and resilience. We are excited to continue supporting collective climate resistance and climate justice movement in the Caribbean and beyond, providing them with core, unrestricted funding.?? ? Ahead of #COP29, feminist leaders from Global Fund for Women, @EqualityFund, and partners gathered in a virtual cross-regional conversation to strategize on pressing climate justice issues, reflect on their expectations, and share collective demands. These leaders are emphasizing that the climate crisis cannot be tackled without a climate justice and gender-responsive approach, especially as frontline communities are facing compounding, intersecting crises.? Here are 5 essential demands they’re pushing for at COP29:? ? ? Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Policies:? Include perspectives from women, youth, and indigenous groups, particularly in global and national action plans like the Gender Action Plan (GAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ? ? ? Access to Quality Climate Finance? Support grassroots movements, pushing for a finance goal that prioritizes resilience for communities on the frontlines and engage feminist funds as channels for climate finance.?? ? ? Amplify Youth and Regional Voices? Ensure local priorities are heard on the global stage by providing platforms and resources for members of these groups to directly engage in the process.? ? ? Accountability for Sustainable Practices? Developed nations should respecting ecosystems and local sovereignty, and hold extractive industries accountable for social and environmental impacts.? ? ? Intersectional Climate Security:? Recognize climate justice as intertwined with issues of peace, security, and human rights, ensuring feminist organizations and civil society groups are adequately resourced to shape and secure climate solutions.
