Very good discussion on #sustainable #livestock as part of #ClimateAction at #COP29. Donald Moore, Executive Director of the Global Dairy Platform Inc. noted that addressing dairy GHG emissions is like a Rubik's cube. You cannot solve the puzzle with only one facet at a time; you need to address all the aspects. Based on her experience, Marilyn Hershey counseled to take the hard work one day at a time while tackling all the challenges of mitigating dairy emissions. She walks and lives the talk turning methane into green energy on her farm! The panel, which also included Tara McCarthy, Josefina Eisele, Jason Weller, and Adriano Lenin with Brazil's ???? Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock outlined a clear must-do list.

The dairy sector's continued dedication to sustainability aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals is expressed in a statement released today by Global Dairy Platform (GDP) and the International Dairy Federation (IDF) as COP29 started this week in Baku, Azerbaijan. Today, GDP Executive Director Donald Moore participated in a COP29 panel discussion, “Decarbonizing Food Value Chains: Transformative Financing for Rice, Dairy, & Beef Sectors to Reduce Methane,” at the CGIAR Pavilion, discussing the sector’s commitment to environmental progress, as exemplified in Pathways to Dairy Net Zero.

We appreciated the opportunity to have SAI Platform and the other companies involved in the Future Fit Dairy Initiative (FFDI) announce it at our NOURISH event last month. FFDI is an important step in the regenerative agriculture transition in Europe and is a great example of how companies are advancing on the ambitious goals of Pathways to Dairy Net Zero. We look forward to hearing more about its progress in the years to come.

?? We are thrilled to announce that SAI Platform's Regenerative Agriculture Director, Dominik Klauser was in Paris today at the Global Dairy Platform Inc.'s Nourish event to officially launch the Future Fit Dairy Initiative (FFDi) as part of Pathways to Dairy Net Zero. ?? The FFDi is a collaboration between five leading companies in the dairy value chain, Arla Foods, Danone, dsm-firmenich, FrieslandCampina, and Rabobank who share our commitment to drive the transition to regenerative agriculture with industry aligned, science based and farmer centric solutions. ? ?? Having already started testing the Regenerating Together Global Framework for Regenerative Agriculture with a selection of dairy farms in several countries in Northwestern Europe, the FFDi has ambitions to scale up these pilots in 2025 and inspire action globally. ? Joined on stage by Mireille Einwachter of FrieslandCampina, David Nickell of dsm-firmenich and Lianne Van Leijsen of Rabobank, Dominik took part in a panel discussion to explore how SAI Platform's Regenerating Together Global Framework for Regenerative Agriculture can be meaningfully tailored to local contexts and inspire global action by aligning the industry behind universal principles for regenerative agriculture. ? ???? The FFDi is an important example of how stakeholders across the supply chain can come together and adapt the Framework to support their work in various regions and/or farming systems. In collaboration with their farmers, the FFDi is strengthening the resilience of the dairy sector in Northwestern Europe by leading the accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture. ? At SAI Platform, we're excited to be part of this collaborative journey towards a future-fit dairy industry! Thank you to Metabolic and Ma?la Porcheron for the continued support. #PeoplePoweredAgriculture #RegeneratingTogether

GDP has released its October Perspective Paper, "Extending the Health Span: The Role of Dairy in Healthy Aging." As the world’s population ages, there is increased likelihood for falls, fractures, and reduced functional independence, which puts a strain on healthcare systems. The Perspective Paper summarizes new findings from a randomized controlled trial conducted by Dr. Sandra Iuliano and colleagues, which was also presented at GDP’s most recent quarterly nutrition webinar. They demonstrated that by feeding recommended servings of milk, cheese and yogurt daily, older adults maintained lean mass, experienced significantly fewer falls and fractures, and had no change to cardiometabolic risk. Further, the intervention resulted in healthcare cost savings.?

Thanks to GDP Dairy Ambassador and New Mexico (U.S) dairy farmer Tara Vander Dussen, who helped build awareness of #PathwaysToDairyNetZero while speaking at the 29th Session of the Committee on Agriculture of FAO this month. She highlighted the need for access to finance and grants for farmers to advance #sustainability: “This is a long-term investment for farmers and the entire value chain,” said Vander Dussen, who takes sustainability-focused steps such as producing green energy to power her farm and uses technology to monitor the health of her cows. Vander Dussen is also pictured with her daughter, Gwenevere, and FAO Deputy Director-General Beth Bechdol.
