Last week, the #GCEC was well represented at the 2025 Society for Arts Entrepreneurship Education (SAEE) Conference in Kansas City, MO. Hosted by Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Management, the conference brought together experts from universities across the nation working in arts entrepreneurship education. The #GCEC hosted a panel discussing approaches to launching curricular and extracurricular programs for creative students. Thank you to panelists: Jim Hart, Emily Martin, Stacy Stube, and Frances Pollock. Each of them shared challenges and opportunities in the space and how they approach arts entrepreneurship on their respective campuses. What did we learn? ?? Helping student artists determine what success means to them is an important place to start. ?? Funding artists is crucial at every stage but especially at the early stage when they are starting their careers. ?? It's important to create spaces and programs where student artists feel welcome, even when they don't identify as an entrepreneur. ?? It's time to think differently about how artists approach their careers since funding mechanisms are changing. Leaders (and students) are looking for new ways of solving old problems. ?? Getting accomplished artists inside the classroom is important so that students can learn first-hand about the industry. Congratulations to #SAEE president, Jim Hart and conference host, Andy Heise on a fun, insightful, and successful conference. #entrepreneurship #arts #highereducation #GCEC
