Did you miss the news? We announced the addition of two new corridors to the Global Green Road Corridors (GGRC) initiative on the #COP29 stage last week. The #Poland Zero-Emission Corridor and the I-10 Corridor, one of the most highly trafficked #UnitedStates freight lanes, are the tenth and eleventh corridors to join the initiative.? GGRC partners set out to facilitate the establishment of at least ten global green road corridors by 2026, focusing on high-volume routes connecting industrial hubs, ports, and cities. These corridors will serve as models for infrastructure deployment and blueprints for scaling sustainable transportation globally. Also released last week was the updated white paper, "Global Green Road Corridors: Enabling Factors for Successful Launch, Development, and Scale," which delves into the development of these vital routes and their role in transitioning to zero-emission freight. ?? Are you ready for the second episode of the #ChargingUpChange series? ???? #India is the rising economic powerhouse of the Global South, but the nation is grappling with a worsening problem that impacts health, the environment, and the economy: air pollution. Diesel trucks are the most significant contributor, but the good news is that commercial vehicle decarbonization has become a top priority for stakeholders across India’s transport ecosystem. In this episode, we’re introduced to: ?? Dr. Vandana Andrews, who explains air pollution's significant long-term health impacts, especially on children and the elderly. ?? UltraTech Cement, the country’s largest cement producer, which has recently begun electrifying its fleet. ?? Haimanti Poddar, who discusses why the ZE-MHDV transition is a health and economic imperative. ?? NITI Aayog, a policy think tank of the Government of India, which believes regulations and partnership will accelerate the shift to electric vehicles. ?? Joseph Teja, our Drive to Zero storyteller, who amplifies the power of policy in India's decarbonization of commercial transport. Watch the trailer on our website, and stay tuned for the full episode for a more in-depth look at how India is charging up for change. https://ow.ly/pifu50Ue8Un #electricvehicles #trucking #transportation #electrification #cleanenergy #evs #zeroemissions

?? One of our favorite moments from #COP29 was the release of our third annual Global Progress Toward Decarbonizing Transportation: Multi-Country Action Plan (MCAP). This report highlights the forward action of the 38 #GlobalMOU country signatories toward fulfilling the goal of the MOU, calling for 30% of new MHDV sales to be zero-emission by 2030, and 100% of new MHDV sales to be zero-emission by 2040. With global alignment secured and national ambitions set, now is the time to turn intention into action! The 2024 MCAP, authored by Drive to Zero's Owen MacDonnell and Stephanie Kodish, provides new information on the overall ZE-MHDV market and offers an overview of the impactful policy measures implemented by Global MOU signatory nations. We were thrilled to celebrate A.P. Moller - Maersk's endorsement of the #GlobalMOU during #COP29! They join more than 200 leading transport and energy organizations that are actively advancing the mission to decarbonize MHDVs across the globe. We applaud Maersk and all our endorsers for supporting the goals set forth by the Global MOU. Together, we will accelerate action and ensure the future of freight and commercial transport is zero-emission.
???? Proud to be trucking towards lower emissions in road transportation at COP29 Azerbaijan. Maersk is excited to endorse the Global Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Zero-Emission Medium- and Heavy-Duty Vehicles by CALSTART and Drive to Zero and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands. ? ???Decarbonizing road transport requires policy attention, regulatory incentives, and investment in grid infrastructure. Public-private collaboration is crucial, and Maersk aims for a net-zero emission vehicle fleet by 2040. ? Signed by Morten Bo Christiansen, our SVP and Head of Energy Transition, he said, "Making the switch to medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles (MHDVs) comes with multiple operational and business benefits including lower maintenance and fueling costs, improved handling, and lower vibration for drivers, as well as healthier air in the communities these vehicles serve. ??The Global MOU and the growing list of signatories are instrumental.?The technology is ready and will continue to advance, but without strong demand signals from transport industry providers and customers, and support from legislators through firm emission reduction targets and investments in infrastructure, adoption risks being too slow." Let's pave the road for more EV trucks together! #maersk #electricvehicles #decarbonisation #cop29 #allthewaytozero ? ?? Progress towards decarbonizing trucks and buses requires ambition, but real change is sparked by action. This was the theme of today’s #COP29 workshop, “Zero-Emission Trucks & Buses: From Ambition to Regulation.” Together with the Government of Israel, DTZ Global Director Stephanie Kodish facilitated a closed-door workshop for senior government officials and industry leaders who explored the “what, who, and how” of implementing ZE-MHDV regulations. Throughout the workshop, there was meaningful discussion around the anchoring effect of regulation, including learnings and examples from the #DominicanRepublic, #Seychelles, #Canada, the #UnitedStates, and #Israel. Thank you to our keynote speaker, Paula Vieira, the Israel Ministry of Transport | ???? ???????, the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection, and our host venue, the Israeli Pavilion.
