Alongside our Global MOU co-leaders from the Government of the Netherlands and other key partners, we capped off #COP29 with today's official #UNFCCC side event, “Implementing Zero Emission Transport through Policy and Finance.” Panel discussions moderated by ICCT's Ashpreet Sethi and DTZ's Stephanie Kodish focused on bridging the gap between policy implementation and financing, particularly in emerging markets and developing economies, to ensure a truly global transition to ZE-MHDVs. ?? ?? Progress towards decarbonizing trucks and buses requires ambition, but real change is sparked by action. This was the theme of today’s #COP29 workshop, “Zero-Emission Trucks & Buses: From Ambition to Regulation.” Together with the Government of Israel, DTZ Global Director Stephanie Kodish facilitated a closed-door workshop for senior government officials and industry leaders who explored the “what, who, and how” of implementing ZE-MHDV regulations. Throughout the workshop, there was meaningful discussion around the anchoring effect of regulation, including learnings and examples from the #DominicanRepublic, #Seychelles, #Canada, the #UnitedStates, and #Israel. What a week at #COP29! DTZ Global Director Stephanie Kodish wrapped up the first week in #Baku by participating in “Opportunities for Heavy-Duty Trucks in Southeast Asia,” a session highlighting the latest developments and strategies for advancing zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles in the region. During the session, we heard an overview of South Korea's impressive ZEV policy. The country has taken a holistic approach to accelerating adoption of ZEVs with regulations that include subsidies, mandatory purchase requirements for carriers, mandates for manufacturers, and charging infrastructure expansion. South Korea's target is 4.5 million ZEVs on the road by 2030. This is the transformative ambition and action that is needed across the globe! Stephanie moderated a panel discussion focused the integration of solar energy into e-mobility solutions, addressing key challenges and opportunities for reducing #greenhousegas emissions and fostering sustainable development.
