We envision CO2 capture and utilization through conversion as a mainstream carbon management solution
关于我们
The Global CO2 Initiative at University of Michigan aims to drive the development of technologies that can capture and convert carbon dioxide into a commodity, with a goal of reducing the equivalent of 10 percent of current atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions annually by 2030. The Global CO2 Initiative combines the assets of the San Francisco non-profit CO2 Sciences with what was previously the Beyond Carbon Neutral initiative at the U-M Energy Institute. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, industry partners, and world-class faculty and facilities, the Global CO2 Initiative at the University of Michigan will discover and disseminate breakthrough innovations and solve complex sustainability challenges at a local and global level. Our team supports researchers through technology assessment, development and commercialization of CO2-based products to have the capability of being “carbon negative, dollar positive.” Our teams will deploy the first international, industry-standard Life Cycle Analysis and Techno-Economic Analysis Toolkit (LCA/TEA), which will establish a common model for assessing the climate and economic impact of different technologies in the carbon conversion industry and CO2 based products. #CCU #carboncapture #carboncaptureandutilization #sustainability #greentechnology #greentech #CDR #carbondioxideremoval #carbonreduction #carbonemissions #co2reduction #co2emissions #co2capture

State legislatures are emerging as critical arenas for advancing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) policy, leveraging unique powers and authorities that complement – and sometimes surpass – federal action. As policy uncertainty persists at the Federal level, states hold significant potential to shape the future of and advance CDR through bold, innovative legislation. Join OpenAir for an in-depth survey of recent and current CDR-related bills that have been introduced across the U.S., representing a range of policy approaches. Learn how these state-level efforts are setting precedents, testing new models, and creating immediate opportunities for impact. Tuesday, March 25, 12pm EST https://lnkd.in/eGqC4JAG

The National Wildlife Federation (“NWF”) and the Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal (“the Institute”) at American University invite applicants for the 2025 cohort of the Carbon Removal Justice Fellows Program. The Fellows Program will: Provide participants with a two-week-long introduction to the field of carbon removal, centering environmental justice considerations and concerns; - Offer a $5,000 stipend and travel + accommodation support to successful applicants; - Include conversations with key figures in U.S. federal policymaking, the private sector, and civil society; and - Involve a week in Washington DC and a week in Louisiana, meeting with community leaders and policymakers grappling with decisions around carbon removal. We invite applications from people who work with or in environmental justice organizations, who represent frontline climate communities, or who have a strong background in environmental justice-oriented organizing and practice, as well as from people with other relevant experience and expertise. The two-week Fellows Program will run from July 14-25, 2025. We anticipate offering up to twelve places in this year’s program. ?? ?? ? There are only two weeks left until the deadline to submit your application!??? ?? https://lnkd.in/gQ9ZrBji
