The Hispanic Business Association celebrated their 10th anniversary last night at the HBA Gala. I was honored to celebrate all they do for the greater Charleston community from encouraging entrepreneurs, investing in education, to building our regional economy, the HBA is a valuable partner in the Tri-County! Thank you HBA and Happy Anniversary! So impressed by you!

The German-American Business Summit was outstanding again. Many thanks to Morgan Koerner and Cory Werkheiser for their planning and execution. I learned that “fascinated listening” is a choice that honors the people we are listening to, Fabian Grimm, that AI is a tool but the human element is more powerful, Daniel Schlegel, that the CRDA is choosing carefully the type of company that they recruit in order to honor those companies they have already recruited, Megan Anderson. And that my friend, L. Elizabeth Gibbes is a dynamite moderator! Thank you all!

Half of the investment in our region over the last several years was from other countries! We are grateful for our global friends!
Did you know there was $5.1B in Foreign Direct Investment that created over 13,000 jobs in our region from 2012-2023? Global Charleston's President, Stephanie LeVan and One Region's Managing Director, Ryan Wilcox had the opportunity to speak at Charleston Southern University's Coffee Connect series this morning. They discussed the importance of Global Fluency in ensuring the Region remains competitive on the international stage. #OneRegion #GlobalFluency #OpportunitiesForAll

I am looking forward to co-moderating an exciting panel discussion with the Employment Law Alliance on Thursday, January 16 with respect to immigration compliance and global mobility in anticipation of the new administration. In the nine months since opening, Global Charleston has had exciting opportunities to meet needs. 10,000+ website visitors and 130+ office visitors have learned about international resources in our region. More announcements coming soon in 2025. Thank you One Region Strategy and Charleston Southern University for your support of this initiative.
The strategies within the One Region Roadmap have been put into action by the Lead Agents. As 2024 comes to a close, we'll look back at the resources they have delivered to the community, coalitions that have been built and initiatives now underway. We'll start with Charleston Southern University who founded Global Charleston and works with partners to create a “globally connected region welcoming to multinational businesses and international residents and visitors.” In March 2024, they cut the ribbon on the physical location for Global Charleston on CSU's campus and launched a comprehensive website highlighting critical information and resources for our international community. ??
