New evidence highlights a strong financial argument for localizing humanitarian aid: local organizations deliver assistance more cost-effectively than international counterparts. Budget analyses from four countries—Ukraine, Nigeria, and two anonymized cases in the Middle East—show that local organizations provide support that is, on average, 17% more cost-effective. In the 1980s, fewer than 300 mountain gorillas were left in #Rwanda's Virunga mountains. Today, thanks to dedicated #conservation efforts, their population has surpassed 600. This remarkable recovery is largely due to collaboration among public and private sectors and local communities. These partners work closely with local residents to implement community-centered conservation, where people are incentivized to protect their natural environment by sharing in the benefits of sustainable tourism. Today, we hosted a transformative half-day training for youth-led community based organizations focused on youth development. Participants explored practical ways to leverage creativity and digital solutions as an alternative way to create youth engagement and employment. The youths were taken through a demonstration on how to create income through a WiFi vending machine. A huge thank you to #UbinifuArtcenter @Kevinlugaye joining us in championing for the creative industry and motivating youth to seize the unique opportunities within reach. We were also honored to have #YouthFund onboard, providing guidance on accessing funds for registered youth groups to strengthen their economic empowerment.
