But women like Megann Lock are helping change this day by day… So, we decided to ask her a few questions to share with all of you: Q: What's the biggest challenge you've seen for being a woman working in software development? Megann: I must say that my self-confidence has been challenged the most. Sometimes, I hesitate to assert my expertise or speak up in situations with more prominent, corporate clients. Confidence has been one of my biggest challenges in a primarily male-driven industry. Q: What's one piece of advice you'd give to women wanting to make a software development career? Megann: Find a mentor. Early on, I began working with a client (a female business owner), and over the years, she’s become an inspirational figure to me. Her coaching and wisdom have been invaluable to my growth as a “solopreneur.” Thanks to Megann for sharing her experience with us.
